i'm jealous, nice work, I'm trying to get mine together as well, just stuck on fuel lines cause I am going to go all ss as well

Highboost242 04-01-11 07:42 PM

Exactly what I was looking for Cohbra, look good +1!

I'm not sure what kind of details your looking for, what I can tell you is that it is a parallel system w/850 primaries and 1680 secondaries. I'm using the RX7Store rails and a SARD regulator. The fuel pumps are Walbros and I'm using the CJ Motorsports twin fuel pump bracket. All of my lines and fittings are from Summit Racing and I'm running -8AN for the supply and -6AN on the return. Fuel filter is an aeromotive with a cleanable element.

Hey Cohbra, what did you do for the AN fittings from the stock hardlines?

silvercvic 04-01-11 10:01 PM

Also, is that the aeromotive fuel filter mounted on the firewall?

cohbra 04-02-11 02:06 PM

I will not be using the hard lines at all, it is all SS braid on the supply and return from the pump. That is the fuel filter but it is not attached to the firewall. I made a bracket to mount it to the back of the UIM. Here's a pic with it attached.

KKMpunkrock2011 04-02-11 05:23 PM

what fuel are you using and what filter? mind showing a pic of the mount? I'm gonna be running e85 and am still trying to figure out this part of my fuel system.

silvercvic 04-03-11 10:51 AM

Also curious to see if you are running the harness in the same spot as OEM...looks tight and I'm afraid in my situation as well that the ss lines may rub on the harness trunk of wires too much and cause damage. Have you tried adding the engine harness to see if there is good clearance?

cohbra 04-03-11 02:01 PM

I'm just running pump gas. I do have my harness installed now but I haven't spent any time yet to make sure the harness doesn't rub on the fuel lines. I don't remember seeing anything that really concerned me when I put it in though. Since I'm still out of town on vacation this is the only pic I have that really shows the bracket.

I'm trying to get back into this project and finish it up but every time I start, I get a call from work, and I end up having to leave town. I have managed to get a few things done here and there, but nothing major. If all goes as planned, I should be home next week and I will start dedicating a lot more time to getting this thing back on the road.

In the mean time, I've started thinking about a few things and trying to do as much research as I can while I'm on the road to speed up the process. My biggest concern right now is finding a good base map for the PFC to start with. I expected to find lots of examples on the FC-Datalogit yahoo forum, but I didn't find any (unless I'm looking in the wrong place). Does anyone know where I could find a good map to start with for my setup?

Beautiful work and very inspiring!

cohbra 10-05-11 11:35 AM

I've finally managed to get some time home this last week so I've been working hard on trying to accomplish as much as possible before I have to leave again. This week I have:

Installed my wiring for the AVC-R boost controller.
Reworked the engine harness.
Relocated the battery to the passenger side bin.
Installed the AEM water injection in the driver's side bin.
Run new wiring and installed a relay for the two new Walbro fuel pumps in the tank.
Shortened the pipe where my wastegate mounted up (it was sticking down below the bottom of the car).
Fabricated & welded up a brace for the downpipe.
Installed all hoses, belts, & plugs.
Installed new GM 3 bar map sensor.
Repainted & installed windshield wiper arms.
Refinished & rebuilt one of my brake calipers, the other is soon to come.
Began reinstalling some of the interior plastic & door panels.
Began filling all fluids.
Also put power back on the car for the first time - Whew! no smoke!

Woot wooot! where'd you get the in line fuel filter and what size did you Opt? i'm planning on doing a similar set up...

cohbra 10-05-11 09:54 PM

I got the filter from Summit Racing, I think it was pn 12303. It says it is a 40 micron filter good for 200-3000hp.

It looks like I will finally be turning the key past the ACC position this weekend. It sure would be nice if it fired up on the first attempt but I doubt that will happen with so many new things added/changed during this build. Tomorrow I will finish draining out all of the old gas that has been in the tank for the last 4 years so that I can replace it with some fresh fuel. Once I have some good fuel in the tank, I will pressurize the fuel system and check it for leaks before turning the motor over for the first time.

Here's some pics of the current state of the engine bay.

I'm liking your water filler neck! A custom piece? I think a start-up video should be mandatory in all build threads haha. Can't wait!

Yeah, the water filler neck is custom. I showed the process of making it back on page 2.

I finally got her back on the ground tonight. Gonna pull it out in the driveway tomorrow so I can clean up the mess I made in the garage and give her a bath. Then I've got to get this idle fixed.
