Got the car out again today. It was perfect weather for cruising around in Colorado. I've got some issues with high EGTs while cruising that I need to work out, but in general it is running pretty good. I still have a small stutter in my idle every couple of seconds that really bothers me, but I'm not sure if it's a miss in the ignition with the new coils or if it is something else. I've always had it, but I was hoping the new IGN-1A coils would fix it.

On a side note, my new 3D printer should be here in the middle to the end of next week which opens up a whole new door into fabricating parts. I have been talking to a local casting facility who can cast parts for me after I create the molds on the printer so I'm really looking forward to that.

Well, it's been a long-time-coming, but Steve Kan is finally going to make another visit to Denver two weeks from now. In preparation for cranking up the boost, I spent the last few days working on the car, mostly I was trying to get a solid pressure test on the entire intake system. I never realized just how hard it is to hold back 30psi in a 3" pipe. What a pain in the A$$ that was. I ended up having to double up on all of my clamps. The next test is to get everything hot and see if it will still hold. I also had to put my UIM in the mill and shave off about .015" to get a good flat face on it again.

Now I'm left with trying to decide which plugs I want to run, and I honestly don't feel knowledgeable enough in that area to feel comfortable with making my own decision. I want to ensure that I'm fully prepared when dyno-day comes. The plugs I'm running now are the NGK R7420-105's all around. If anyone has some recommendations, I'm all ears. I'd like to have an extra set before I get on the dyno, but I'm not certain that I want to stick with these NGK plugs I have now.

Since it's been a while, and to refresh memories, here's my mods. I don't really have a specific HP target, but I intend to let Steve push it as far as he feels is safe for the mods that I have.

Mods: To4z 0.7 a/r turbo, Pineapple racing built street port w/OEM 2mm seals, Power FC, 3 Bar Map sensor, Water/Meth Injection, 850/1680cc injectors, FJO low impedance injector drivers, AEM Uego Wideband O2 sensor, Dual Walbro pumps w/ -8 supply & -6 return lines & separate 10 gauge wiring for each pump, AVC-R boost controller, synapse 50mm wastegate, IGN-1A marine coils.

I'd guess that your turbo exhaust housing A/R of 0.7 will cap you out well before you need a different type of plug.

It was overall quite a successful day, I'm very happy with my numbers, and that nothing broke. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that I didn't have a heavy enough spring in my wastegate. I've ordered a new one, but I'll have to wait until Steve comes back to Denver again to see just how much she has left in her.

For now anyway, we managed 418.6 RWHP and ~346 torque at 14psi on pump gas. It was on a Dynodynamics Dynotech. Everyone down there was telling me that that particular dyno subtracts 15% from what they measure (I'm sure this will spark up a huge debate, but I really don't care to hear it again) which is supposedly equivalent to ~500hp on a DynoJet. I don't know how much truth is in that, and don't really care. All I know is it runs great, and there's a lot more left in it.

Steve thought there wouldn't be any issues hitting 500 RWHP on the Dynotech if I had a heavier spring in the wastegate.

Here's the vid:

Resurrection

After the car being down, (technically up, on jack stands) for the last 6 years,I’ve finally got it all back together with a freshly built large street port and some new Injector Dynamics ID1050’s and ID2600’s. It was really nice to take it to the car wash and get her all cleaned up. I’m gonna have to let her go soon though. I just don’t have the space for an extra car anymore and it is definitely a seller’s market right now.

This car is now up for sale... https://www.brilliantblackrx7.com

The listing will probably go up on BAT any day now unless it sells before then. Currently the car has 82k on the chassis and 250 miles on a freshly rebuilt motor. Asking $62k for now.

Will be interesting to see how such a modified one does on BAT. I'm guessing $45-50k
