I made some bezels for the warning lights part of the dash this morning because the holes were just too deep to get the fabric to stretch all the way in to the back of the hole and get it to stay. I figured this was my best alternative.





I also took a drive up to Fort Collins this afternoon and finished getting all of my break-in miles out of the way. However, on the way back, I noticed that my fuel pumps were getting a lot noisier than they usually are. I guess I'll pull them back out of the tank AGAIN to see if I can find out what's going on and then start tuning for boost.

Today I moved my pump for the water/meth injection to underneath the car because I screwed up and didn't mount it lower than the tank as the directions called for.

 

I also built a rack to hold my amp today so I can finally have some tunes on those long drives.

 

I made a quick release mounting bracket for my fire extinguisher this week. It's still a little rough around the edges, but it holds pretty tight.

 

2 quest. what material did you use for your heat shield? aluminum? what grade?

how is your sub secured?

 

I'm not sure what grade the aluminum is. All of the aluminum I've used has been scrap that I got for free from my old job. I actually don't have the sub installed in the car right now, and I'm not sure if I will put it back in or not. Right now I only have my front channel amp in so that I can have some tunes on longer drives. It is just wedged underneath the strut bar really tightly.

I meant to take more pics but I finally took the time to plumb the wastegate back into the exhaust pipe this week. Wow, what a pain in the a$$! It's so much more pleasant to drive now.

I should have some more updates coming in the next few days (hopefully). I will be installing the IGN-1A marine coils as soon as they arrive, along with some of the new plug wires that Sake Bomb Garage is making. I'm really hoping they will get rid of this miss I have at idle.

 

I started working on the wiring and mounting for my new coils. I decided to go with the IGN-1A coils due to the great things I've heard about them. Mounting them in the cruise control location is a bit of a challenge because of the limited amount of space, but I managed to squeeze them in. The mounting bracket is a little ugly at this point, but I'll clean it up and polish it before I permanently install it.

Put a polish on the bracket today and installed the coils on it. It's not the best polishing job I've ever done, but I'll probably clean it up more some time down the road when it's nice out. It's no fun sitting in a cold garage in the middle of winter in Colorado making black dust everywhere. I found some cool chrome spacers at my local hardware store that worked out perfectly for this.

Bracket looks great!

These coils really are a pain to mount with their akward shape. We're you able to make it so you can unclip the harness connectors while the coils are all installed on the bracket? I found that if the coils are too close together you can't remove the harness without completely disassembling.

 

Right now I can't plugin/unplug the harness without loosening up the nuts to make a little room between the coils, but I do have plenty of room to space them out some more. I just need to go back to the hardware store and get some more metric all-thread so I can replace my 1/4" spacers with the extra 3/8" ones I bought.

 

Waiting on UPS to deliver my weather-tight connector this morning so I can finish up the last of the wiring on the coils. However, I'll still be waiting a few days for my new plug wires from SB Garage to show up, which really sucks because it's supposed to get up into the low 60's here on Sunday and I'd love to be able to go for a drive. I should have some pictures to post later this afternoon with the coils installed.

Got the coils installed and wiring complete. Just waiting on my plug wires to show up now which will probably be here on Tuesday or Wednesday. Just in time for the mid 60's wheather coming next week! I'm so sick of the snow...

 

Coils, new plug wires, & my little wire holder that I made are installed and ready to go. Now I just need this snow to go away so the roads will dry up.

 

I made the necessary adjustments to the dwell this afternoon and gave here a crank... fired right up. Hopefully it's warm tomorrow so I can take her out for a spin.

 

car looks great mate, carefull with covering up that amp however. Back when i had one of those (the 1250.1 monoblock) it overheated when i put it in a false floor and fried it, luckily they warrantied it tho and was all repaired free of cost . Whens the ETA for some booooooost?

I'm not sure when I'm going to crank up the boost. Hopefully we can get Steve Kan back to Denver this year. I just need a really good tuner that I know I can trust before I turn it up anymore. Right now I'm running 7.5 lbs.
