Thanks for the kind words.
ProjectD - I tapped the hole and loctited a bolt in there, then smoothed everything over with JB weld (great stuff)
BADSVN2000 - Not at all difficult to go non-seq (if you're a bit handy), and I would highly recommend it if you are having boost issues with the standard setup as I was. I still can't believe how much crap (vac lines, etc) you remove when you do the process. I had a 5 litre bucket to put all the pieces in, and it wouldn't hold them all! I followed the rotary resurrection guide, and here are some other sites I found helpful:

It's also good to use the simplified vac diagram when doing the conversion (I've attached it)
Getting the tubos off to cut out the doors, etc is a bit of a pain first time you do it, but it's a good time to clean everything, port your wastegate to stop boost creep and get to know your car a bit better. I also had a peep inside the engine to see how everything looked as far as carbon buildup, etc when I had the manifold off. All was good and nice and clean (probably because I change my oil every 100 miles
My advice is get stuck into it and don't be afraid!

However, I decided to stay sequential for now.... Mine is daily driver and I still have suspension bushings that need to be changed out... my chasis has approximater 113,000 miles on the clock now....
I didn't use the DVD you recommended but instead opted for live asst from GOODFELLAFD3S

James. I just read the thread on your FD build. I went to it from your eBay seat sale. Amazing feat. I would not attempt such a complicated thing. You are to be congratulated. What sort of brakes are you using? I noticed the calipers seemed to be painted red. Are they Brembos? Or Mazda or something else? Thanks Mate Steve (munroman). PS i am trying to do an FD for track work as well. Might see you around the tracks.

I ran on the Sunday. Officiated on the Saturday for the state round.
Sunday carried the points for the Tri-Series which I ended up winning in Marque Sports over 2 litre class.

Hey James. FD looking great. Sits low! I see you have the cage and window net installed. It would be very welcome at Winton and Wakefield for the AMRC races. It would be VERY competitive there too. PM me for how to get the AASA logbook if you are interested. Door to door racing and so far in 2008 not a scratch on any cars in the SuperTT class that you would be in. Great fun. Only $300 for two days! Winton had 6 races totalling 72 laps! Awesome fun. Some TV too.

Suspension is Tein springs and Bilstein shocks and car feels great with this setup on the track. My only gripe is getting enough grip to use the horsepower. I have to gingerly "squeeze" the throttle as boost climbs.
Tyres will swiftly hurt my wallet (even with sponsor help). I'm looking at running some full slicks. Do the class rules allow non DOT approved tyres or would I have to persist with the semi slicks?
Roll cage is CAMS approved and I have a log book (obviously)
I'm very interested, that sounds like great fun!

I've bought a full sheet of 2mm thk aluminum plate and will be spending a bit of time under the front of the car cutting cardboard templates out then transferring to plate to better duct the air, including oil coolers, brakes, etc.
If I have any plate left I might work on a rear diffuser.
Other than that I plan to enjoy racing the car!
Will probably do a few supersprints (autocross) and hillclimbs throughout the year, depending on "spare" $$$ available....

nice build. i really like what you did. the rx8 wheels actually look pretty good on the fd.
quick question though, how much space is in the engine bay to leave the intakes for the twins with your intercooler set up? i have twin oil coolers and flip up headlights so i wouldnt have the space to run my intakes the way you did. i cant really tell from the pictures but it looks like it would be pretty cramped if the the twins intakes were still in the bay. is there space to keep a filter like re-a one that runs both intakes into 1 filter?

Here's another video from a local hillclimb a few months ago:
Car has had quite a few changes of late. Wheels, Tyres, Cornerweighted and race aligned, tune, 4.77 diff, SBS Dual Carbon brake pads, full fluids, braces, HT12 turbos, Tein Mono Flex with EDFC, new gauges, low km (but still stock) engine, etc.
Recently ran a supersprint (lap dash) at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek.
Car was awesome to drive, had a great day!
