Chronumn's R2 Build

Hey everyone, just picked up my 1994 R2 RX-7 from fellow forum member Yanni/Snook so I figure I'll share the build here since I plan on changing / updating the car. I'm going to be improving this car both mechanically and aesthetically. My plans include doing a full '99 spec swap, with new wheels, and fixing some minor issues.

Currently Installed

Garret T04 Single .70AR
HKS Cast Manifold
HKS 50mm Wastegate
Pettit Intercooler w/ duct and fan
M2 Carbon Airbox (Removed)
Greddy Elbow w/ Type RS BOV
Apex'i Power FC
Koyorad V Mounted Radiator
Custom downpipe, Magnaflow resonated midpipe, Apexi Dual N1
Exedy Hyper Single Clutch & Lightened Flywheel
Aeromotive Stealth Fuel pump, FFE Fuel Rails ID 2000 secondary & 725 primary injectors
Pettit Coilovers
Racing Beat Sway Bar
Enkei NT03+M 18x8.5/9.5 on Hankook RS3 255/275
99 Spec Nardi Steering Wheel
Stoptech Big Brake Kit
Pettit Racing Air Pump delete
99 Spec Tail Lights

Not Installed:
Pettit Racing 99 Spec Bumper
Recaro Pole Position

Planned:
HKS Twin Power to fix spark blowout at high RPM
Retune
Hardwire Fuel Pump to fix fuel starvation
AEM Wideband Gauge to monitor AFR's
New Exhaust hoping to find an Amuse R1
Efini or Personal Steering Wheel
Efini Emblems
OEM Arm rest
99 Spec Wing
17" RPF1 17x9.5 +18 or 17x10 +18
Shine front fenders

This weekend and some parts of the previous consisted of checking the fuel pump to see why my car is hitting a fuel cut under half a tank, installing a new headunit. New Spark plugs, first wash, and a Pettit racing air pump delete which I picked up after taking the car there to get it checked out by Cam.

Pictures!

Thinking about doing a full black out on the engine bay, wrinkle black manifold, piping, and black IC. Thoughts?

Some autocross stuff, I will be updating this post with some more pictures as they finish.

My second fastest run, I corrected the super understeer corner and shaved a full second.

Just curious why you ditched the air box? You'll be sucking in hot rotary engine bay air now. Car looks great btw, very clean. I say keep some aluminum pieces for a nice contrast. Maybe soda blast them so they look factory fresh.

The airbox was a custom set up with some ducting that I didn't feel comfortable with if some debris flew up into it and cut hole which would lead right into the turbo. The short filter may be temporary until I find something better.

I actually work in Weston, maybe I'll stop by if I'm driving the FD.

Hey! thanks for the invite but I'm more a road course guy. I'll be making trips down to homestead for track days in the future when I get the car squared away and probably after summer so it's not so hot.

Quick photoshop of SSR's new GTX01's on the FD. I can get these for a VERY good price so I'm thinking about it, if 17x10 +38 RPF1's don't clear my brakes.

Sizing would be 17x9 +18 all around.

Also thinking about 17x9.5 +35 TC105n's
and if I find some money laying around 17x9.5 +28 TE37 Double Pressed Black

Good thing I read the text. These look almost the same as the Enkei you have at the moment.

Similar, these have less spokes and no halo. I'm really just looking to downsize to a 17" I actually like my current wheels. However in 17's they don't have the concave face.

RPF1's in 17 will clear your big brake kit. Love these

Good to know you say they clear, I have a semi-local guy about an hour away who has 17x10 +38 rpf1's that he would let me test fit. Just to be sure.

I have 17x10 rpf1s and printed or the template for the Stoptech brakes and they do indeed fit. I want those brakes so bad! Lol
