Overnight parts from RHDJAPAN.com Seriously, they came over night.:ylsuper:
New rear wide fenders (+25mm), authentic RE-Amemiya headlights and a few other things crossed the pond. :icon_tup: This should do it for exterior parts needed to finish the car. Ohh wait, I still need a GT wing and sunroof plug. lol There's still a long laundry list of things that need to get done, but I couldn't be happier that it's in Chips hands now. He really shares our passion for rotaries and is as OCD as I am, so I know the small details will be focused on. Attachment 628326 Attachment 628327 Attachment 628328 Attachment 628329 Attachment 628330 Anyway, to let the cat out of the bag, my plan is to re-create something like the CC FD in Japan. I've always loved this car and with the recent influx of RE-Amemiya ADGT cars I really wanted to do something different. I still love the ADGT kit, but some good friends (RTT) were right, the car needs to be unique here in the US. There will be some custom tweaks to suit my personal taste that I think will make for a perfectly executed FD for me. :icon_tup: Attachment 628331 Attachment 628332 http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2740/...45c80f80ea.jpg |

Did you get it from Ray? Please document the conversion!

Chip's about to chop your top!? Make him post pictures on his Facebook!

Isn't it easier just to trade for a different roller?

You must have an account with them. I'm not sure if Ray stocks these.

Nope. FD's are pretty rare in California. No one here wants to mess with them considering our stricter emission laws. Flying to a different state to check one out to see if it has a straight frame when I already had one with a perfectly clean title/frame was much easier. :icon_tup:
Would love to ditch my sunroof, finding a base/r1/r2 is getting hard. |

The sunroof delete is awesome. I just saw an FD when I was at IRP porting an engine the other weekend---- you can't tell the car originally had a sunroof.
I'm told the part is only ~$185, and the complete conversion to include paint etc ran ~$1200. Sounds like a winner to me  Mike, really stoked to see how your FD progresses :icon_tup: |
[QUOTE=Blackadde///;11896941]Now you see it.
does the front windshield need to be replaced when deleting the sun roof with the new roof skin panel? |
Mine is the car Rich saw at IRP... and yes, you do need to have the windshield pulled (replaced if it breaks, which it can). My car wasn't started as a roller, so I couldn't go that route.

I see... how much cost a windshield in case it breaks? |
Windshield itself is only $100, but they no longer have the brown glass.
|
I don't recall the window being $100, I've broken them before.
|
Had to replace mine 3 months ago, aftermarket glass was $100 and only blue and green is available, labor was like $150 and I have OEM seal from Ray.

This thing fuckss! Post pics of the roof swap process!

Roof is cut. Cutting and welding rear 1/4's next. Had to stop and order some cross member bars for roof support.
