I lizard skinned my FD. You can look at my threads for pics. It seems like it will be well worth it. Also, use the cup on the bottom of the gun and not the tube into the 2 gallon container. It worked half ass.

Blackadde/// 02-09-13 12:49 PM

mefarri, I was searching google and saw your thread on norotors. There was some good info on there. Is there a reason why you chose to spray both on the interior instead of spraying the SC inside and CI underneath?

mefarri 02-09-13 08:28 PM

From all my research it didnt matter one way or the other because it just acts as a thermal barrier. So I just sprayed both on the inside since the bottom of my car is spotless and it looks like the texture would attract dirt.

How was the cost on the mod for the bearing oil feeds?

Thank you sir. There's no turning back. I've set my mind to building a 20b race car, and it'll be done! haha :icon_tup:

Some more custom work from Chip. 20B rear oil pedestal with direct feeds for main bearings. -10 in with -8 outs. It is machined for turbo feeds and temp and pressure probes for later on down the line when we get to mounting the snail.

I also ordered 3 brand new OEM S5 rotor housings and 3 brand new S4 Low comp rotors. They are on backorder, and Mazda Japan says it'll be about 2 months before they get here. No worries, it'll give me time to save up for a rebuild kit and some apex seals. :)

I don't think it would be appropriate to posts Chips pricing publicly, so your best bet would be to private message him here on the forums, or contact him directly through his website: http://www.chipsmotorsports.com

His forum handle is "to_slow" :icon_tup:

I guarantee you won't be disappointed with the high quality work that he does.

Brand new 3 x S5 rotor housings and 3 x S4 Low Comp Rotors. The rotors will be lightened next, so stay tuned for pics of that. :)

Mike, i do hope you know you could have bought a house for what this car is going to cost you. :)

i am curious why he chose S5 housings though.

Blackadde/// 02-27-13 07:31 PM

Ben, I think you just might be right sir. :)

I was told to keep this one under the hat, but the housings for chosen because of research Chip had done with his PP engine. The rotors, in short, will allow for more boost. :icon_tup:

RotaryEvolution 02-27-13 07:36 PM

ah ok, didn't read through everything so didn't know it was a PP motor. albeit i really don't see much difference in the housings besides the coolant ports already somewhat drilled through but i have noted the very minimal difference in chrome hardness.

Blackadde/// 02-27-13 07:44 PM

My motor will only be getting a street-port and I wouldn't argue with you at all on your second statement. ;)

Don Nguyen 02-27-13 08:14 PM

I've been looking into E85 myself as well.

idiazs 02-27-13 08:32 PM

Just putting things together to see how it looks. I still need to buy a rebuild kit, but I should be taking care of that tonight, or tomorrow. It's bitter sweet needing 3x of everything. haha

Chip, still needs to lighten the rotors, balance the rotating assembly to 10k rpm, and do some porting on everything too, which should keep him busy.

This is my first time seeing brand new OEM rotor housings. It's interesting that they don't clean them from the manufacturing process and leave them looking like this. I guess something will have to be done about that.

The Mazdaspeed dry-sump is looking so good all polished!

Well, I never planned on drifting the FD and have purposely been gearing the build towards time attack, but I've always loved going out drifting with my buddies. Anyway, I really needed a new daily driver and I figured why not kill two birds with one stone. I present you my new dd. :)

There are some things I want to change/fix. The carbon fiber hood needs replaced or painted and I'd like to refinish the rims in an all polished look.

mannykiller 03-15-13 12:36 PM

^ don't touch it... just leave it exactly how it is and only fix it if it breaks...otherwise you'll never finish the fd haha. And you'll end up drifting the fd....=-) well at least thats my plan for your car hahaha

Thanks guys!!!!

The RX-7 is on the backburner. It got boring really fast throwing money into something that wasn't going to run for another $20k. Thankfully, Chip has been really understanding and doesn't mind leaving everything at his shop for awhile until I feel like throwing some more money at it. If everything pans out I should be able to get back to the build around September. I'm just taking a step back for awhile.

Purchasing the s14 has been a great release. The suspension setup is solid, so I've been drifting a lot more and back in the drivers seat. It feels great. :stick:

I wasn't really feeling the 90's gold VS-XX so they are black now.
