During some testing lost power and run like a pig. Off with the manifold.tested coil and leads. Killed both leading plug leads. Replacing some vac hoses and solenoids while I'm in there

You know I have been thinking about the same thing.
The lip I got on the car is not in terrible condition but I bought a brand new one, so I had been wondering if I paint the old one.
I want to get the front clip repainted so may see if I can get the lip done too.
I'm half decent on the spray gun so may see if I can get some extra paint .

Did a plug and lead change tonight. Had two dead leads so luckily my AutoExe leads, platinum plugs and a cool mini ratchet and plug socket came in. Little plug tool made life so easy. First plug change on the FD

I lost an engine because the local shop did not realize the coil locations are different on an S8 compared to an S6. Most shops here only have access to the USDM FSM in English, which would show the prior coil/lead set up.
Less likely a risk of happening in Australia, I suppose.
Are there versions of the FSM updates available in English in Australia?

There are some S8 service manuals about in English but I don't have one unfortunately.
I hope I put them back the right way.
I was presuming #1 rotor is to the front of motor and leading plug at the bottom.
Fingers crossed it doesnt blow up.
been replacing vac hoses in the rats nest.
What a pain in the ***

Have you "run codes" by the way. Best to do that earlier before you chase gremlins all over your engine bay.
Also maybe a smoke test to see where there may be any air/vacuum leaks.
If you do not have access to a Japan code reader you can run an jumper and LED tester lamp on the diagnostic module and count flashes to you heart's content.
We did this on our friends Spirit R when the local garages were totally flumoxed.
Discovered the waste gate solenoid in the "Rat Box" was Kaput.
He ended up replacing the entire Rat Box, because dicking around changing one solenoid likely would cause more problems.
Repair worked great, but he took the car to 7000 on his way home from the shop and blew out his radiator.
