Armen, we live in similar climates and drive similar roads... I'm surprised you went with Yellow Stuff.
On my daily driver/canyon carver dual purpose 1994 Acura Integra with MUCH larger than factory brakes, I run Raybestos ST-43 Race Pads.
The Gran Touring FB Rx7 with Turbo II brakes will be running a slightly less aggressive Raybestos ST-line of pad.
MUCH quieter than HP+ with a hell of a lot more torque, regardless of temp. As the heat up (20+ miles of hard backroads driving), they stay consistent and modulate incredibly well. I'll know how they perform on track as soon as I get either car up and ready to go.

I haven't heard of the brand Raybestos but I will definitely look into them. I must say, I am getting a lot of negative experiences about the yellowstuff, after I bought them. When I was thinking about buying them all I was getting was a lot of positive stories about them on the threads on the forum. Did you have a negative experience with the yellowstuff?

I did a google search of the Raybestos for a 93 rx7 and not much came up for other than OEM brakes. Would you happen to have a link to a website that sells the performance pads for our cars?

Exactly, yellowstuff is not necessarily cheap. It is basically the same price as the hp+ and a lot of guys run the hp+ on the track.

HP+ are stupid cheap and hardly better than an OEM pad in terms of torque.
The Raybestos ST-line is a race pad...and they're priced as such. Fronts are in the $200+ range, not $60-100 like HP+ or EBC Yellow.

You just quoted two links that go directly to the products and the product description.

just dont care.

how about terms other than torque? I've tracked more than one time on HP+ pads and they did a surprisingly good job on track with bite, heat handling, and longevity. they're obviously not a race pad, but you can't say they're hardly better than OEM...

that seems like a stretch. OEM pads are very quiet, very soft, and decently long lasting.

Because we have mountains?
HP+ are okay and a minor bump in braking power over OEM compared to the bump from HP+ to a real race pad like the ST-43. There are ZERO downsides of making this jump, except for cost.
In this run, you can see pads failing...on a mountain pass, with a light(ish) car making 140whp. Yes, altitude is a factor with heat dissipation, but come on, really? You guys can't seriously think HP+ is safe on track when driven hard. I'd have to do 1 warm up lap, 1 hot lap, and 1 cool down lap on HP+, vs. just being out there all day.

I hadn't changed my oil and spark plugs since the tune so I decide to tackle that task on Sunday 12/11/16. My next item on the list is the suspension. I decided to take the car into the canyons to see how it handles so I can see what I need to adjust. This is what I found.
1. There is a squeak from the front passenger side area when I go over bumps. Not sure what it is yet.
2. When I turn right the car hugs the curves wonderfully, however, when I turn left the car doesn't feel as smooth. I need to also figure that out.
As far as alignment, I was looking at the Pettit Recommended Alignment Settings (http://www.3rdgenrx7.com/images/pettit_alignment.jpg) but can't decide on which one would be best. I plan on tracking the car twice a year, for now, so I was thinking of doing the Short Track Event specs. Any thoughts, opinions?

It's most likely that your car isn't aligned at "true center" and likely has an out of balance L to R. You could have also had lower tire pressure on one side and a dozen other variables...

I'll be in SoCal sometime during this Winter Break with the Integra and catching up with my plans with Abel, Fris, and a few other individuals down here. Let's hit up the canyons, yea? I need a vacation and it'll be an opportunity to film more proper footage. The new motor/clutch need broken in too, so it should be a hoot!

Isn't this the tale of Two Armens being better than one? We could make a great short film for driving with that as the premise.
