I would really like the Red Spirit R seats however I might go with some Bride Ziegs. I'm not sure as of yet because that upgrade is going to come way later. I want to paint my engine bay orange (still thinking about that too) and maybe have orange lug nuts so i'm not sure about the red seats but with neutral color lugs it would look great.

Minor update: I talked to Charlie today and he said that my engine has made it to Rick Engman and that work will start on it soon, however, I may not get my car back until early October timeframe. So I may be looking at a few long walks.

Anyway, I bought a white delrin shift **** from Zero Limit motorsports. It was 20 bucks so I said why not. It's a good quality piece but it's a little light. They say they're going to make heavier ones in the future.

I was looking at how I wanted to paint my car a few days ago and my dad randomly chimed in and said something about flat pearl white. I thought he was crazy so I looked it up.

I was very surprised at how good this color looks. I think this is what i'm going to do. Anyone have any information on where or how I can get this done. I'm talking paint, not wrap.

Second piece of advice....please don't paint the engine bay orange. White FD''s are rare.....keep it white please!

Yeah, I've been thinking about keeping it white and I probably will. It's going to be a while until I get to that and I would still love to have red spirit r seats but they're so damn expensive. What do you think about the flat pearl white?

So one of the guys here on the forum had a practically new xcessive lower intake manifold for sale so I snatched it up. Only one issue, the primary injector holes have plugs in them with some kind of silicone gasket sealer or something in them. Any ideas on how to get these plugs out? I plan on using a single quad injector rail from FFE in the future.

I was looking at the lower intake manifold last week with a buddy of mine and we made the decision to drill the injector hole plugs out. It worked like a charm, one of them ended up coming out while we were drilling a bigger hole in it after we drilled the first one.

Also, they took the stock waterpump off because of the cavitation problem that these pumps are prone too and installed an aftermarket one. Not sure on brand though.

Hey guys, I haven't posted in a while because of a lot of movement going on at work. I wont be located in Georgia any longer because I'm changing duty stations. I'm going to be stationed in Louisiana for the next few years so it will allow me to pick back up on this project.

So I have a few questions:
1. Does anybody know any reputable rotary shops in Louisiana or eastern Texas?
2. I am looking into turbos pretty soon here and I'm wondering what kind of .ar's i should be looking at. The turbo I am scoping out is the Turbonetics GTK 750. (I'm looking to make around 400 whp on E85.)

I haven't been putting much time into the car recently but I plan to change that as soon as I can get established. Check back to see my progress!

I liked the direction this build was taking when I initially read it a couple months back.

Sorry, but I don't know off the top of my head any rotary tuners/shops down in that area. I know Ari (rx7.com) works out of either Dallas or Houston. Also, Steven Kan is based out of Houston.

Quick question though. I need a new carpet and I visited that website that previously posted. I just wanted your personal feedback on the carpet and fitment itself. For like $185 you can't beat it. I'm being very particular with my build so I want a carpet that fits perfect.

Thanks,

Justin

GORILLA RE is the best shop in Louisiana. He is located in Kenner, there are a few of us with rx7s spread around the state.

I will definitely check that shop out when i get down there and also visit Kan when i get ready to tune. As for turbos, im still kind of lost. The turbonetics seems like a good choice but the aspec kits and stuff look like a pretty good deal too.

And Justin, i pmed you.

I've been looking through a bunch of the single turbo threads and I've got a basic understanding as to how turbo sizes and compressor maps work. What I'm wondering is: If you can reach your power goal with a minimum .ar, why would you go any bigger and reduce your spool time? The turbonetics gtk 750 and 850 would more than likely meet my power goals and both have a .81 ar. Why would I need a 1.0 .ar or anything like that. These are the kinds of questions that go bump in the night.

Mini update: Before I left Georgia on my long, roundabout trek to Louisiana, I took my cracked spoiler off and attempted to replace it with a newly painted used spoiler that was obtained for me by the guys who damaged the old one. As it turns out, the first one was barely mounted....at all and the second one had only one mounting stud in it so I scrapped them both. I am now running spoilerless using packing tape to cover the holes until I install another spoiler. I really like the FEED type 2 wing and will probably end up buying one as soon as I get to my next station. I've read that Shine auto makes replicas of this wing but I haven't been able to find it on their site.

The old spoiler left some nasty crud rings around where the base was mounted so today I got on it with some mr. clean magic erasers and some 1500 grit wet/dry sand paper.
Before:

after:
[IMG][/IMG]

I also did a bit of maintenance today. I changed my oil, rotated my tires and because my starter has been acting up I replaced it with a duralast reman one. Well for some reason once I installed the duralast, it would not turn over. Basically I was having the click click start problem that I'm having with the previous starter only with no start.....just the click click click. I reinstalled the old starter and got the new one tested and it passed, so I dont know what I'm going to do about that yet.

OEMFD, I actually have a jumper already connecting the two plugs. For a while it worked fine but then the clicking just started to get worse and worse. Sometimes it takes about 10 clicks or so for it to start. I have no idea what the problem could be because as I posted before, I installed a tested and working starter and it wouldnt even turn over at all.

It was brought to my attention that even after you jump the connection for the security relay, the click click start problem may still exist. I was talking to a friend and he said he bought a starter booster from pettitracing.com. It's on the list of things to buy very soon.

Update note: I went in on this group buy from MotoIQ and paid for a primary injector port block off kit. It looks high quality and furthermore I needed this in order to utilize the quad rail from FFE for my xcessive engineering LIM. I guess I could have used the racing beat kit that has apparently been available for some time, but this kit just looked a little more professional.
Here's the group buy thread with pictures:

For those of you that do not feel like reading the thread, but want to see pictures, I have saved some of the pictures from the thread and will repost a few of them here.
Note: These are not pictures of my car, engine or parts. They are from the thread mentioned above.

After consulting with a friend and the guys from rotary performance. It was decided that the root of my problems was a bad coolant temperature sensor. I was slightly skeptical but I ordered one anyway and installed it. Turns out, it was the root of my problem. My friend also pretty much did all the work in changing my fuel filter. However, I once used one of the underbody braces as a jack point and bent it upward. It had been rubbing on my mid pipe and so I decided that today was the day that I was going to bend it back a little bit so it stopped rubbing. Well I broke it, and now I'm in the market for another, so if anyone has one for sale, let me know.

I also had been wanting to clean and re grease my window regulators. Got that done today as well. I followed a write up from one of the forum members here. It was very simple and easy to follow yet detailed enough so that you don't get lost half way through. Here's the link to that write up: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...enance-910274/

Minor update: Went over to Tony's place today and dug in to a couple of things I've been meaning to get done. We took off both of my front fenders (and bumper) so that I could tuck the wires that run through the fender wells. The reason I decided to do this is that my suspension is pretty much blown and whenever I take a turn at a high speed or hit a big bump, my tires hit the wires and have been slowly eating away at them. So, it was time to fix all that. Took the fenders off, unwrapped and re wrapped the wires. The last thing I need is electrical issues. Tony also noticed that one of my tail lights on the drivers side is out so I will be replacing that soon.

I also decided to finally order a new suspension bushing kit. I went through J-AUTO - Bushings, Suspension, Parts for Mazdas and I bought the powerflex full kit without the sway bar bushings. So that will be one of the updates coming soon, with pictures and stuff. I also decided to take the plunge and go with a set of coilovers. I have decided on the Ohlins road and track, I have not ordered them yet however I will be doing that tomorrow. Last thing I decided to get was the starter booster from pettit racing. I know you can make your own for much cheaper but I didn't feel like looking for the write up and putting in the wiring work myself. So that's going in at the same time those bushings do...I hope.

I only took pics of the drivers side because it was pretty much the same on the passenger side.

Tony took the bumper off for me. We couldn't get one stinking bolt off because it was painted on..It was infuriating, so he drilled it out. It's the bolt on the front of the fender just between the bumper and fender. Props Tony.

We did everything we could possibly do to get that bolt out haha. Drilling was the answer. Looking forward to helping you install all your new parts.

Well I've actually decided to keep the engine bay white. A couple of guys have had some input about the orange bay and it just sounds like a better plan to keep the car chaste white.

Before i went on leave I ordered my coilovers and bushings. You should know that I never go cheap when it comes to parts for my car. So this time, I ordered a set of Ohlins Road and Track coilovers and a full set of powerflex bushings (except the sway bar bushings) that we will install this weekend. I went over to Tony's and we opened the boxes like it was christmas and put the coilovers together. We also painted my excessive LIM. Here are the pictures:

I used a dremmel and 60 grit sand paper to get off most of the rough casting and scored up the outside pretty good. Makes for better primer and paint adhesion.

I did a pretty bad job at masking the flanges.

I thought the primer phase went relatively well. I did 2 coats and then let it dry for a bit.

Then I did a couple coats of vht high temperature paint. It's called metallic black. It's got shiny flakes n stuff in it.

i'm not trying to be a hater or post negative stuff, but that engine paint is going to fade and look bad. it usually works best just to bead blast the manifolds, and maybe use a light coat of clear.

Thats not being negative. It's constructive criticism and I appreciate it. Unfortunately I dont have access to any kind of blasting equipment and I would have to go a long way to find anybody that does. I was actually looking at the manifold last night saying that I should put a layer of clear on it. I think that's another thing I'm going to do this weekend.
