I'm going to try my best not to write an entire thesis on this so we can get to the good stuff.

I bought this 94' chaste white fd from allrotor back in 2011. I haven't driven it too much due to being in the military and we're not really around where we live too much. When I bought it, it was basically stock aside from some reliability mods and a PowerFC. I had wanted to mod it for a while but never had the time to do it. Well, we just got back from Afbananastan and I figured that now is as good a time as any so I started to buy parts while I was over seas and I'm just now getting around to working on it.

My build and thought process has been heavily influenced by Aaron (Mannykiller). I read through his entire build thread while deployed and it got those imagination juices flowing.

I'm quite new to the FD scene and therefore am always looking for constructive criticism and tend to ask a lot of questions. As for the guys who aren't constructively engaged in my thread or professional about the way they conduct themselves, I kill or ignore the people that irritate me. You will be ignored... :twitch:

Ok here we go: The day I bought her.

The first things I'm trying to get out of the way are all of the "cleaning" jobs. Wheel wells, transmission tunnel, interior, etc, etc. Well, my real test started today. I went to walmart and bought some simple green and a couple of different kinds of brushes (never know what you'll need). Went by the auto parts store and picked up 2 cans of Permatex rubberized undercoating. Saw it on Aarons thread and it looked like a really good idea and it was very clean after he finished.
Pulled off the wheel well liners (they were torn to crap anyway) and got to work scrubbing and stuff.

Due to space, time and equipment constraints, I could not take apart all of my control arms and brakes and stuff. So my buddy and I decided to just work around it all. I did mask most of the important stuff off. :)

Bare with me, my buddy's 6 year old son is taking pics with my gopro that got pretty beat up in Afghanistan.

During my vacation overseas I bought a Ganador titanium catback from Rich Farrell. Finally got around to cleaning, polishing and installing it.

Nothing sexier than a clean stock chaste white car.

Are those bilstiens you have on it?

Eva001Ikari 07-20-13 07:46 AM

I know the shocks are Koni. When I bought the car, he said he wasn't sure if the springs were Eibachs or Bilsteins. I'll have to get back to you on that.

Dr.Speed 07-20-13 03:15 PM

love the white, and that exhaust is a great choice.

how much power are you looking to make with it?

Thanks Dr.Speed. When I seen it was white, I had to have it. I'm looking to make somewhere close to 400 whp.

Today we spent around 12 hours at work in the garage. Ya, I know....
I've read a bunch of "interior" threads in the past few months and decided it was time for my carpet replacement to happen. I went to this site: Factory Fit Molded Auto Carpet--Top Quality & Easy To Install
It was highly recommended by some of the guys on the forums so I gave it a shot. Bought the black carpet with the mass backing option (definitely a good choice). Didn't take long to have all the interior plastics and dash out. It did, however take a while to get it all back in. Once we had it back in, one of the wires in my ecu harness was pulled out somehow and my fuel pump wouldn't run. It took about 20 minutes but we eventually found it and fixed it.

gave it a good twice over with a scraper, a shop vac, a couple brushes and some simple green

cut and glued the mass backing in places that made the most sense

We also managed to find time to install my Banzai Racing diff mount.

very nice, the black carpet looks a ton better...now what about the seats? lol

Dliverance 07-21-13 01:23 AM

Enough with the fish eye lense :)

Eva001Ikari 07-21-13 07:52 AM

Yeaaaah.... about the seats. I plan on getting the original seats reupholstered in some kind of black neoprene or whatever racing seats are made of and maybe having the middle covered in alcantara or something. For track days, I might actually buy some bride zieg 3's. I'm not totally decided because i'm 6'3" and 200lbs so that makes it kind of hard to find seats to fit my big loppy ass. More research is needed on that.

I'm not sure what fish eye lenses are but i'm assuming you mean the lenses below my headlights. They were there when I bought the car and I have no need to change them out now. Although I will in the future.

Dliverance 07-21-13 09:27 AM

I was talking about the camera lense. You're making us iPhone photographers look bad.

Eva001Ikari 07-21-13 02:05 PM

Oh, haha got it. Well unfortunately all I have is a gopro cam and my phone. The gopro only takes one kind of picture. Really really wide and big ones. I'll see if my phone takes any better ones next time.

Just placed an order through rx7store for my hks twin plate clutch. It was on sale, couldn't pass it up. He says it's going to take a while to get in. My engine stud kit from turblown and my walbro 485 should be here tomorrow. I also received my oil pan brace kit from banzai racing. Very fast service. I ordered some polyurethane engine mounts through irpperformance. Not sure when those should get here.

I'm planning on taking all of these parts up to Mazcare in Atlanta and leaving my car there with them. I'm going on post deployment leave for 30 days so in that time they say they should have a few things done on it such as the porting and stud kit. Hopefully by the time I get back into Georgia most of it will be done so I don't have to be carless.

Randall.K 07-22-13 10:31 PM

Thanks for your service. Looking good so far. I just had my seats reshaped and recovered (took some of the padding out of the middle and stiffened and built up the bolsters). Much much better than factory at the race track, but still works nicely around town.

mb3000 07-22-13 11:42 PM

Kudos to you for taking the time to do it right!

MOBSTER 07-23-13 12:59 AM

Good looking car...looks like your off to a great start.

Eva001Ikari 07-23-13 02:04 PM

Thanks for the support fellas.

Update: Fuel pump came in this morning. Really hoping that the stud kit comes in before I leave tomorrow morning. if not. I guess i'll have to find a way to do it when my clutch comes in.

Randall K. I wish there were somewhere around here to redo seats. I would like to get them redone and see how they do around town and stuff.

Randall.K 07-24-13 03:33 PM

I'd suggest you ask around. I found the store that did mine by asking the dealers who did their repairs. He didn't show up in my searches on the intrawebs. Price was right too. 600 for both seats and they look outstanding.

Eva001Ikari 07-25-13 09:51 PM

Hey guys, finally made it to California. I should be going down to mazdatrix at some point for my haltech platinum 1000. Once I get back to Georgia I'm probably going to put my apexi power fc up for sale. Dropped the car off at Mazcare with Charlie yesterday and he's going to send the engine out to Rick Engman to do the street port and the engine stud kit. Stud kit came in today so I'll send it up to mazmart and let them do their thang.

Randall K. Yeah man, I guess i'm going to have to ask around because i'm having no luck on my own.

Got down to Mazdatrix this morning and bought my haltech p1000. Very nice piece, it's smaller than I thought it would be. I used to own an E8 when I owned my FC before the military.

Next thing I have to look in to is a clutch. I'm looking at twin plate clutches but I'm not really sure what I want. Some guys say the exedy is good but it doesn't slip in well unless you get the expensive carbon one. I read reviews on the HKS but that one is $2800. I'm waiting on Ryan from Thmotorsports to get back to me about the prices on the Carbonetic ones that they carry. I guess we'll see what happens. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Eva001Ikari 08-03-13 09:39 PM

Sooooo Thmotorsports hasn't gotten back to me yet so I might be going with the Exedy D core twin carbon clutch. I read a few reviews and people said that the carbon clutches are good to slip in and they can take a beating. Charlie at Mazcare says they're dropping my engine off at Rick Engmans place for work next week. That's going to take a while. I'm having them convert my turbos to nonsequential so I can install my Haltech, which means I'll have a Power FC for sale when I get back to Georgia.

Let me know what you guys think of some different clutches. It's kind of between the Exedy and Carbonetic but if you have different input go ahead and post.

David Hayes 08-04-13 07:42 AM

Nice work. I like all the thought and planning going into your build and you are doing it right. Regarding the clutch, either of those two would work well. I've got the Carbonetic triple disk carbon unit and it works great. Grabs quickly and consistently. You don't need the triple but the twin will work well. Do be prepared for a bit of noise when you push the clutch in as the carbon disks rub and you'll hear that.

And thank you for your service :patriot:

joelanger 08-04-13 03:08 PM

nice FD looks very clean

jacobcartmill 08-04-13 06:29 PM

haltech for life!!

papsmagu 08-05-13 06:41 AM

Sweet FD....please install red spirt R seats. That is my favorite combo....white FD w red seats.

Thanks for your service!

David Hayes 08-05-13 09:50 AM

^ That would look sweet. Always follow the advice of "Paps" :lol2:
