2nd Rotary, first FD

I purchased this 93 Rx7 Touring auto in November, 2011 after my Rx8 was totalled. This has always been a dream car of mine and now I finally get the chance to build one. The car has 177k on the chassis and the seal were blown. The owner gave me an engine with intact seals out of a manual car since he knew I was going to convert it to manual.

I immediately took the engine to Brad owner of Rotary Inspired Performance in Moore, OK. Where the rebuild and transmission swap will be done. Since then I have removed everything from the engine bay to prepare for a color change. Here are some pics of my progress so far.

I'm hoping to have the subframe and bracketry back from powdercoating tomorrow to start reassembly on the car. Then it will be taken to R.I.P for her heart transplant. When I get her back she will be driveable finally. After I purchase my front bumper and front fenders, I will paint the rest of the car.

Thanks for looking

Here is a pic of the stuff that I picked up from powdercoating today. The picture looks more blue, but they are actually purple. Was hoping to pick up the replated bolts to start putting her back together but they won't be ready until Tuesday. I did get the steering rack regreased, boots replaced and new tie-rod ends installed today.

Here are a few more pics from the reassembly. For some reason the bracketry looks the same color in the pictures as the bay. They are actually a purplish blue color.

Didn't make it to IFO in Noble obviously. We had a couple of snaggs. I have since picked the car for break in and it is back at R.I.P getting tuned. Here are a few pics of some of the engine and car. She won't go in for final painting until December. Going to work on getting the interior tip top until then. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.

wow I see you put a lot of work and time into this project. but congrats for getting it done.
quick question, are you planing to change the color of the car or just the rims?
and were the rotors still useable or did you have to replace them?

I going to change the color of the car as well. It will be jetstream blue metallic from the 2008 Zr1 corvette but not until December. I reused the rotors. They were still in good shape.

Well it looks like I'm going single, during tuning the twins gave out, so I decided to go ahead and go to single. I'll be very limited as I'm still running the oem fuel system except for the fuel pump.

No sure how that color will look on the car, but to each their own. I look forward to seeing the pictures of the completed build.

Best,
