New Product: Banzai Racing RX-8 13B-REW Crossmember (04+ RX-8)

We have designed the Banzai Racing RX-8 13B-REW Crossmember to allow installation of the 93+ Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) engine in the 04+ RX-8 Chassis maintaining the RX-8 transmission. The 13B-REW factory motor mount brackets are retained.

It replaces the stamped steel brace with a 5/16" thick Steel Crossmember which utilizes Energy Suspension 88 Durometer Polyurethane Motor Mounts. The Crossmember is Laser cut, then Press Brake formed, with welded gussets for additional strength. We have incorporated a bolt-in center section for ease of installation. The Crossmember is Black E-coated to prevent corrosion.

Kit includes:
Left and Right Motor Mount Sections
Bolt-in Center Section
Polyurethane Motor Mounts
Grade 8.8 Metric mounting bolts
Grade 8 Motor Mount and Center Section hardware
1/4" Spacers

Installation Instructions

RX-8 13B-REW Crossmember

Sounds like a great way to keep the underside of your 8 from rusting.

You might want to contact firecran on the RX8 Forum, he has tried all the different mounting solutions. He is now running ours and actually called us because he is so pleased. Banzai Racing REW swap engine mount option - RX8Club.com

Thumbs up

Very happy with this mount
Not bashing the others they are good too but I prefer this one for daily driving.

It's also been track tested recently, this is at 12psi

What are you guys doing for ECU? Any CELs? And most important question, will the vehicle be able to pass the OBD2 emissions?

I would love to move up to a RX-8, but I will need to get it to pass emissions.

This car we are building has a Microtech and the stock ECU, there are only a few options. Emissions, what are those?

Technically you could leave the cat and the electronic air pump in car, but in the case of the FD engine swap, it will be difficult to meet newer car emission standards. Especially if you are porting and modifying the engine.

Anything can be done with enough will power and money.

I'm totally onboard when Banzai introduces the PFC adapter harness for the RX8.

I know its oldschool thinking - but that is what would inspire me to buy.

If we did develop an adapter, the stock ECU is still required for all the other systems in the car.

Agree - just like the automatic transmission FD adapter.

Ive seen a PFC in an RX8 and that is how the owner did it.

If you build it (and its comparably priced to your other PFC adapters), I will buy.

Are you looking to run the Renesis or the 13B-REW with the PFC?

13B-REW.

Seemed like a PFC adapter harness makes perfect sense since you have developed the crossmember to painlessly (less pain anyway) put the REW in an 8.

We will see, we have a lot of big projects going on right now. The 13B-REW RX-8 we are currently building came in with the Microtech interceptor already installed so no PFC R&D on it.
