Unless the group buy can get us FC + commander for under 600 i dont think it would be worth it because the for sale section has them going for that much very often.

I am looking forward to the release of the harness though, because getting a standalone was the only reason i was going to do an MT swap.

We do not do group buys.

I have made arrangements to have a automatic dropped off at the shop so I can finish my testing and get this harness released.

I am just trying to figure out if there are any tuning limitations to having the ECUs set up this way.

Driveline limitations are a completely different issue that will have to be addressed at a different time. It is the same as finding the breaking point of the manual trans and clutch, you need to be able to tune to those levels before you can establish where the "edge" is.

I believe it was Weaklink that had it done, maybe a couple of others. Not sure what he had to spend but Level 10's website shows the expenses.

Thanks for the link! Looks to be around $3500-4000 if you do everything yourself, add another 800-1000 for a shop to do it for you if you dont have the tools and you are near 5000. I have seen manual swaps done for 1500 with reselling old parts, but play it safe and get good parts and your looking close to $3000. Not sure if the level 10 transmission is worth it when the manual swap can be had for cheaper and is less prone to have complications in the future. I think the harness is a great choice for those staying in the 300whp range or sticking with the stock twins, i blew my auto transmission at 60k miles with intake, dp and catback only. I think ill pick up this harness, piggyback a pfc and run intake,dp, res mp, and smic at 12psi and call it a day- transmission should atleast be able to handle that since it was just rebuilt.

I called level-10 and they said around 4,000 for the job and then you need to have it installed which is another 600-900 dollars. I've called around to some trans shops and 900 is the top end quoted by tripoint. I think this harness with all the bolt-ons and a good tune with the pfc will get you about 300 rwhp at 12 psi which is great for the auto's and the trans should hold this just fine.

Good input Jeff, I think 300rwhp at 12psi with all the bolt ons is with a very conservative tune, i would think it would be more around 330 340 rwhp.

IIRC it was like 1500 for the rebuild kit and $750 for the torque converter. They don't sell the torque converter anymore, but they will modify yours. It cost me about $3500 to have the trans pulled and rebuilt and reinstalled. The tranny guy didn't see anything special about the rebuild kit. He said he could have used similar materials.

What then is the torque converter they list on their website? Not for an RX-7 I take it?
I keep thinking I'll ****** up one of these used auto trannies you see for sale all the time and then send it off to get rebuilt so when the time comes for me to replace my transmission, I will have a nice 'bulletproof' one all ready to go.

I see the TC for sale. Damn expensive. But, your logic is sound.

I think they just put up stock photos and then you have to talk to them about the specifics.

as weaklink said I think any quality trans shop can build a solid racing trans just like level 10 and they will give you a warranty. if you buy the parts and have them installed when something goes wrong they always blame the other guys parts and you get stuck with the labor bill. so I think the trans can be upgraded without any problems. first we need this ecu thing out of the way. the trans will come later

Just a quick update, the auto car was dropped off at the shop this past weekend. I have a PFC installed in it and testing is moving along well.
