ECU Options for Automatic Owners

I think we have all come to the realization that auto trans owners truly have the short end of the stick when it comes to modifying their cars. This is why we sat down and started figuring out how to install an engine management system that would keep the "HOLD" feature functional.

What we have come up with is an adapter harness that allows installation of multiple EMS systems while keeping the stock ECU operational to control the trans computer. The stock ecu piggybacks on the the EMS signals with just enough inputs to keep it on "life support".

We are still in the testing stages, the R&D has been done, but we need to try a few more configurations before offering it to the public. I figured I would start seeing if there is going to be any interest in the adapter beyond our few customers.

Below are pictures showing the adapter with a Power FC. However, we designed it to be able to be used with any plug and play EMS system, such as the AEM, or even the reflashed ECUs like the Pettit or M2.

Your input or interest is welcome.

i think this is awesome, whats the price tag on one of these???

grimple1 04-05-08 01:27 PM

sign me up. I'm glad I didn't toss my stock ECU.

although I don't really miss my hold feature that much, this is something taht would give a lot of us auto owners a better piece of mind.

bajaman 04-05-08 03:52 PM

Very much interested. I have a PFS unit but would like to have the option of going to a PowerFC.

FDNena 04-05-08 07:03 PM

Definately interested. My stock ecu is sitting on the shelf in my garage so this would be great.

I'm down. I just bought a PFC and accepted the fact that I would lose the hold function. Excitted to see this thread. What's the price tag?

sevensheaven 04-05-08 09:55 PM

Yes, its good that someone is paying attention to the auto guys! It's a wonder we don't have to go around saying unclean, unclean! I do know those adapter plugs are very expensive so..........., I think the cost will be the biggest factor on this set up.

grimple1 04-05-08 11:53 PM

Banzai always makes great products at an acceptable price. SO I've got high hopes!

Banzai-Racing 04-06-08 08:15 AM

We have not established a price yet, but it will be affordable.

indispeed 04-08-08 07:39 PM

arghx 04-09-08 12:09 AM

n rider89 04-09-08 01:29 AM

very interested. i was just going to accept the fact that i lost hold.

88SE_HI 04-09-08 02:58 AM

Sounds like it will be a popular item.

Banzai-Racing 04-09-08 05:16 AM

It will be available once we have completed testing on a 94 automatic. We have a customer that has agreed to let us use his car for the installation. We just want to make sure that there are not any issues on the 94-95 that are not present on the 93.

apex_sideway 04-09-08 07:08 AM

Very nice!

grimple1 04-09-08 06:30 PM

Very nice, I like. How much? (in a Borat impression)

happyFD 04-09-08 11:16 PM

Yes, please.

Banzai-Racing 04-10-08 06:13 AM

The harnesses will not be for sale until after we have finished our testing, the price is going to be $275 , which will include Priority Mail shipping anywhere in the US.

7dust 04-11-08 03:08 PM

Do the PFC and the Stock ECU fit together behind the kick panel or do you have to relocate one?

I'll take one - its for a 93 soooo I don't care if it works for a 94 or 95. PM Me.

n rider89 04-11-08 03:35 PM

275 means im buying this no problem

Banzai-Racing 04-11-08 03:56 PM

We have not gone into production on the harnesses yet. We need to verify that is will work on both, we are confident that it will, but we need to make sure. We will let everyone know as soon as they become available.

Yes the PFC installs right next to the stock ECU, just have to remove the top mounting bracket.

7dust 04-11-08 04:41 PM

^^^ How about a pre pay option for the release date so I don't have to wait behind all the vultures! :D

Banzai-Racing 04-11-08 05:40 PM

What you can do is email sales@banzai-racing.com with the title "FD Auto Adapter" and we will send you an email letting you know when the release date is, this will basically hold you a place in line so you do not have to wait.

7dust 04-11-08 06:51 PM

I've hooked a PFC up to an automatic car before and realized very quickly that there is MORE that is lost than just the hold function. The transmission will not downshift properly and I suspect that the torque converter does not lockup properly as well. Sure you can drive around - but the transmission performs like shit.

Question: Should this setup cure all of the above drivability problems in addition to the lost hold function?

Banzai-Racing 04-11-08 06:59 PM

Yes, this is designed to solve all of the issues.
