Had a seller reach out to me by PM about a part I was looking for on the marketplace on June 20, 2025. I have attached a screenshot of his message here in RX7 Club. He also sent me some convincing photos of the part by e-mail after that. He was very responsive at first (of course), and then proceeded to make it sound very promising as he gave me his Zelle info for payment. I promptly sent him payment and a pre-paid shipping label. And then, everything changed. Generally, scammers just disappear at this point, but for some reason every week or so when I ask him for a status update, he just gives me some "out of town" excuse (but only after I sent him e-mails daily for a week). Unsure why the extra effort on his part to communicate, but either way he has my money, and I never received a part. It is now July31, 2025.
Hopefully this can keep someone else from getting scammed by this guy. I know I know, bad on me for just sending a Zelle to a stranger. More scammers than honest people out there I guess. Should have demanded a paypal invoice or something instead. I already reported this to the FTC and to Zelle Fraud. I encourage everyone to do the same reporting. It won't get the money back, but eventually when enough reports go through about someone, they do get investigated under grand larceny laws (my source for this is someone I know in law enforcement). Moral of the story is never send any sort of irreversible cash app payment to anyone you don't know.
