BEWARE of Japan2LA - paid $2,218 - nothing but excuses and NO engine

I have ordered a few small parts previously from Japan2LA and all was fine, and with the fact that he is a forum sponsor, I felt ok ordering a longblock from him. BOY was I wrong.

8/18 Forum vendor Japan2LA confirms he has JDM FD Longblock under 30k miles with guaranteed compression and warranty available for 5 day delivery.

8/22 I pay his requested price including shipping via Paypal.

It is currently 9/25 and all I have received from him is poor customer service, and 2 fake tracking numbers. I called the freight company about both tracking numbers and they confirmed that those numbers are the correct format, but not linked to any active shipments.

Please see the below screenshots for proof. The dates show how long it takes him to respond, which is terrible considering the amount of this transaction. Not to mention his avoidance of direct questions like "when exactly was my engine shipped?" and "what shipping company?". This is VERY SHADY behavior, and I'm shocked to receive this treatment from a forum vendor.

You can see via the last screenshot, on 9/23 I PM'd him requesting a real tracking number otherwise I would file a refund. Well he has not responded at all as of today, so I've filed a dispute with paypal and decided to make this post here so that others can beware before doing any business with Japan2LA.

Don't wait too long or PayPal won't be able to help.

Im not sure whats going on with him, he's been MIA as far as PM's go. Ive ordered plenty of items from him before with now issues and great communication, but for the last few weeks he gets on the forum but is not repling atleast to not my PM's. Im waiting on the last piece of some parts that i ordered from him, hopefully they will show up soon. I do know he said he recently lost his help so that may be part of the issue with the delays.

sorry to hear you're having trouble also.

i run my own business as well, so i know sometimes things can get out of hand very fast and you get busier than you anticipated, but being "busy" or "losing some help" is not a good reason for him to give fake tracking numbers and/or lie about something being shipped.

3 weeks ago he could have simply said "sorry, i couldn't get your engine out when i thought i could, would you like to wait or get a refund?" and i would have respected that a lot more than stringing me along and wasting my time.

To the OP--

I am going to close this thread, because it is a duplicate of the feedback thread that you also posted in the negative section. This section is more for questions about businesses and questions about how a business treats customers, instead of posting feedback.

Also, I sent a PM to Japan2La asking for him to respond in your feedback thread. I will be watching this one closely--especially since he is a forum vendor. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I'm sure you can understand the need to avoid duplicate threads on a forum with as much traffic as ours has. Thanks!

Jon
