Horrible Experience: Zerloift Autolab

If you're in the market for a Jdm motor DO NOT do business with a company called Zerolift Autolab in Fairfield, Ohio.

I bought a motor (13b rew) from them back in January, they said it would be compression checked/under 90day start up warranty. When I got the motor there was no compression in the front rotor. They refused to give me a refund, saying they would send me another motor. Okay, cool.

They kept telling me, (and I kept believing them like a dumbass) that they found a motor through so and so, and gave me bullshit compression results, bullshit tracking numbers, dodged my phone calls, etc....

Eventually (last month) the owner; Mike Bailey; finally broke down and said he couldn't find a motor, and that the "many" he had lined up were "dickin him around." He said he would order the master rebuild kit from Atkins, pay for that and pay for all my mechanic's labor etc...

That ****** again started dodging phone calls, (even answering the phone and saying he wasn't there-pretending I'm a fucktard and don't know the sound of his voice), and kept trying to delay. "I'm trying to find a cheaper rebuild kit..."

Mike Bailey, owner of Zerolift Autolab is a con, a liar, and an overall sack of rat ****. Don't waste time or money dealing that chode. He's on nopistons.com sn is TeckniX.

And people wonder why rebuilds are recommended over jspecs. Half of the engines are great, the other half are shitty. Of COURSE the importer didn't hand pick it from a running car in japan. He just unloaded the pallets off the truck when they showed up at his dock, made a note of what year/model/vehicle they fit and then listed them up on the internet.

Most jspec sellers do not warranty rotaries at all, or if they do, they make the warranty short enough that they know you cannot have it installed by the time the warranty runs out (the week in shipping is usually included in the warranty period).

Sorry about your luck, and it would be nice if the seller actually honored their word, but it is not surprising to me in the least. In fact, I dont know of any jspec importer that actually HAS warrantied a bad rotary they sold.

Not a big surprise, we just received a 13B-RE directly from an importer for a customer build. It has 0 compression on the rear rotor do to blown apex seals, so it also has a destroyed rotor and housing. I have come to expect this from J-spec engines, and would never consider installing one without rebuilding it first. In this case it is not that big of a deal because the customer wants the engine built with brand new FD housings and S4 TII rotors, but in other cases our customer was expecting a good core and ended up needing parts.

Basically J-spec = rebuild

Yeah, I would've just had my motor rebuilt but I was super low on cash and was just kinda hoping for some good luck with the jspec. I wouldn't ever again and I recommend no one else go the jspec route, and if you must, do not do business with Zerolift.

I'm not as pissed about the motor not working (i knew it was a 50/50 thing) as a i am about them not honoring their warranty, lying to me over the past 4-5 months, and pretty much being such big douchebags.

Another thing, I had a friend call them and ask about availability of a 13b rew and they told him they had some in stock, when they've been "trying to find me another" since jan/feb.

I don't know man, the more people I talk to the more bad **** I hear about those ********. It's alright, I'm in the Army and I'm having JAG (our lawyers) deal with them. They will be reported to the Better Business Bereau, and they will be on a banned establishments list within the Army if not the entire US military. That and if I don't get a phone call today saying they sent me money, I'm going to the courthouse and dropping off my lawsuit paperwork. I'm gonna try and make everything as public as is possible so that no one else need be screwed over by those douchebags.

What happened to ethical business practices?

Bashing Jspecs

JSPEC = REBUILD = NOT TRUE

I know you guys want to sell your rebuild service but quit bashing jspec motors... Plenty of members here are using a Jspec motors as in inexspensive solutions to get an RX7 back on the road....and even more Na to turbo swap guys are running them...

maybe we should actaully get a count going??? and if the motor did fail find out how long it lasted and what caused the failure...

Buy a motor from someone who actually knows about rotary engines and who inspects them before selling... Zerolift is mostly a honda and nissan tuner shop...

I am curious to why a guy from Barstow Ca. would by a swap from someone in ohio?

Yeah thats somewhat odd someone from the west buying J-Spec engine from someone in the east side of the states There plenty good shops who import motors in California, I have used a place called p $ g auto parts in Railto, Ca give alex a call, They don`t get too many rotories any more.

i know under normal circumstances that would seem strange. i'm in the army and was stationed @ ft campbell ky at the time. i was on leave in december in oklahoma visiting my mom and i blew my motor. i was broke as **** having just recently bought my 7, getting married/honeymoon etc back in october, and just shy of moving to barstow on orders to ft irwin ca. (ive only lived in barstow since march)

anyways, i was broke as **** and needed a motor fast. zerolift had one that was "compression checked" "fully inspected" and "hand selected from a running car" and under a "90 Day Start Up Warranty" all that bullshit for $1,300. So i took the gamble, hoped for the best, and i got, and am still getting **** on by those asswipes.

I cant say from experience that all jspec motors mean a rebuild; this was the 1st jspec i've ever bought; but in this case it did.
