Wear on outside edges of housing

Hey guys!

After the last housing I bought was junk, got a new one from someone as an exhchange and it looks like this. It goes all the way around on both edges of the housing and there's a slight step down in one or two spots. What caused this and is it usable? I'm having horrible luck with this

unfortunately lots of people pass off junk rotor housings as good.

Not really usable.

Caused by the corner apex seal piece. Then they take apart the engine, flip the seals over, and wear out the other side of the housing.

could be resurfaced for better compression results but for the wear amount i would say its not worth it.

save it for a race engine, it will still work but the compression won't be very good with that housing.

We were building it for racing anyway. Would you really suggest using a housing like that in a race engine?

Why not? Your going to get the RPMs most of the time, may just be a hog to start hot

in an n/a you can just run it, for a turbo i'd recommend a bit of break in until the compression peaks before trying to beat on it. i'd also probably recommend some decent used 2 piece seals versus wasting money on new ones.

depends on what you mean by race.

sealing = power, so if you want power, and reliability you should just buy new housings.

if racing = unreliable POS, than use these housings
