ByeByeSti=scam artist

DO NOT buy from Pat Payne. A few months ago, my friend, who is still very new to RX-7s and clueless to maintenance, bought the "re-wrapped" engine wiring harness from ByeByeSti. Re-wrapped...I didn't know that means wrapping electrical tape around a crusty piece of crap harness with missing connectors, broken connectors, connectors that were glued together because they were broken...

Had I seen the pics and was able to see how bad it was I would have told my friend not to buy it. But to say this is a good and working harness is a complete lie.

I'm trying to piece together his old harness and the POS that Pat sold him for $285 and I'm finding it hard to do. My buddy already doesn't have a lot of money to play with without this scam artist taking it from him. And here are some pics to show you just how bad it is...the blue tape I added to try to identify connectors.

Doesn't look too bad from this distance...

Ok, a few missing connectors already...

I'm not even sure what the single red and black wire goes to...

These had been glued somehow to the injectors because the connectors were broken, I'm not sure what was used...

You can see this one is still glued together...

These two are broken, but still somewhat usable at least...

So what do you have to say for yourself Pat? Or have you already ripped off others and skipped the forums? Here I thought you were a standup guy. Now I know otherwise.

^I'm not sure though, it seems like it's more like JB Weld with how hardened it is.

Thanks Rich! Not sure what's gonna happen though. I've seen a couple different versions of the name ByeByeSti so maybe he's ripped off others also.

the harness isnt crusty or anything man i pulled it from my car when my coolant seal popped before. i told him it had a rtv in a couple plugs when i emailed him beforehand. i left a couple of cylinoids on there too for the guy. the harness came off a motor with my motor when it blew at 40k on it that came straight from mazda.... he never once contacted me afterwards via email/call or text/ or on paypal. he asked me if it was shipped and that was all. i sent him the shipping confirmation and had it so that he had to sign for it when it arrived. he told me thank you when he got it back. and rewrapped with electrical tape? yes it is rewrapped with electrical tape what do you expect it to be re-wrapped with? gold ? no they come wrapped in tape as it is. if there was an issue i think he would have called me up since he had my number also. ive never scammed anyone and ive always used the name byebyesti, there was another byebye_sti on vr4 forums but that isnt me. appreciate your thread on me buddy if tthere was an issue i would have thought you would have said something to me months ago but no you didnt. i pulled apart the harness to make sure nothing was cracked, ripped, and or cut which it wasnt.

and i sent him numerous pictures of the harness. so its not like it was a guessing game or anything. i sent the actual product as shown

Wow, really trying to cast some doubt on me with the electrical tape comment huh? I guess that's all you have to stand on though, and really not even that. My point is this, since you couldn't figure it out the first time (or pretended not to know what I meant)...while you are correct about re-wrapping with electrical tape, generally people wouldn't wrap a crusty (and yes, it is crusty) harness with missing and broken connectors and pawn it off as a good harness. That's the move of a scam artist.

I'm not sure what solenoid you're saying you left on there, but the only thing I saw was what I believe is for EGR because the plug is broken and stuck together with RTV or whatever you used, and the solenoid for the charcoal canister lines, and I'm assuming that's only because the connector was broken and it was easier to just leave it on there. Yeah, you're a REAL thoughtful guy.

And he told me he called you several times and you never answered, and I even called you myself and left a message, but just once, right after I saw what a POS it was. I guess I could sell a POS and then not answer my phone and say "oh why didn't you ever call if there was a problem?", but I would choose to be a decent person and not scam someone in the first place. And in the event I DID sell something that didn't work or whatever, I would have the decency to take the phone calls and not act like nothing was wrong, and I would take the part back and give them their money back. But I know we can't expect YOU to do that because you're not even admitting that it's a POS. You don't have to be a genius to know that if there are missing connectors it won't work for the car. You can lie to these guys all you want but I know better. I've held the harness and looked it over closely, I've even posted the pics. And Rich knows me well enough to know I wouldn't BS about this. If it was just crusty, I wouldn't have really minded so much, but to have missing and broken connectors, come on man! This thing isn't even usable! I was going to try to use his old harness and this one to make one good harness but I can't even do that! It didn't have to be a perfect harness for $285, but it would obviously still need to be usable. Does he have to buy the missing connectors from you for another $300 or something, just so he can make it work? This is straight BS.

Furthermore, I did mention that my buddy is new to RX-7s, so I think it's pretty obvious that he didn't know what exactly he was looking at when you showed him the pics. Nice try. I guess I should have looked at the pics myself to watch his back so you couldn't take advantage of him, but you sounded like you were a decent person in our PMs so I figured he was safe. Incorrect.

I'm not new to these cars and I know a bad harness when I see one, and this one is a perfect description.

I just don't understand how someone can rip off another person and still feel good about themselves, especially when the victim is another RX-7 enthusiast. To me that's like ripping off your own family. Unbelievable.

Oh, and another thing, I PMed you about a week or two ago asking if you sold my friend David a harness and I never heard anything back. And I know I PMed you because I sent one to all the ByeByeSti name variants on this board. But I guess I never contacted you huh? Haha, whatever scammer.

You've got three days to refund David his money or you're getting perma-banned from this site.

Case closed.

I already banned him for a week. I'll PM him later, a refund is required to avoid perma-ban.

SpeedJunkie is an extremelly stand-up and reputable member of the Rx7 community. If he claims the item he received is ****...I believe him.

I hope you get this resolved buddy. Sad to see things like this continue to happen

Thanks Riz. I can't believe someone in the community would do this to a fellow member and owner. But I guess **** happens sometimes.

Btw, do YOU have a good engine harness? I know you sell good parts at least haha.

^He was supposed to give a refund, but that hasn't happened and I can guarantee it won't happen. Which is why I started this thread. But in order to fix the one my buddy already had, we need connectors I don't have. And even between his old harness and the POS that byebyesti sold him, we STILL don't have all the connectors we need to make a good harness. Know what I mean?

Last time I spoke with David, which was around a couple months ago, he still had not received a refund. I'm deployed now so I'm kinda out of the loop, but I'll see if I can contact him again and see if he got a refund.

Thanks!
