We should all post craigslist ads in norfolk and surrouding areas about him...he is bound to have friends of family in the area. We need to atleast make his life hell.

This is incorrect. I just went back through your history, and another mod correctly closed your 'WTB Caution' threads. That's not the intent of the FS/WTB section. If you want to warn people, you can post in his existing threads, start a bad guy thread, and also have a link in your signature.

If we had members spamming the classifieds with threads to warn of every lowlife scammer on this forum, the entire front page would have zero legitimate FS posts.

In the end people need to protect themselves, which is why I started a sticky last night in the FS sections that I linked in my signature that should help new members in particular.

Sorry to see you guys get hosed, especially forum vets too. I'll do what I can on my end to keep this guy off the forum.

I know my posts were closed via "policy". It's just unfortunate the mods didn't pick up quicker and ban him. This guy was trolling the wanted threads and hooking people there. He made several common posts to appear genuine.

Anyone should however know to be cautious when someone has a low post count, no pics and won't accept paypal.

He didn't post any for sale threads.

Youre kidding, right?

Youre complaining that the mods didnt ban someone BEFORE they ripped people off? You wanted us to ban someone because you thought that their posting habit looked suspicious? Dude, seriously, if we operated like that, probably half the people on the club would be banned, and most for no good reason.

Here's a thought--instead of trying to blame the moderators, why not advocate instead that buyers on here use a modicum of common sense before sending cash to someone? We are not here to hold everyone's hand and do the thinking for them. We expect that people will use their heads and do some thinking about things before they send money to someone. That said, you wont find a moderating staff on any forum anywhere that works harder to deal with scammers....but your way of thinking, as shown in your post, is like a person who leaves his house unlocked and the front door wide open, and then bitches at the police when someone steals his flat screen TV.....

On a final note, I looked at every post the guy made. there wasnt any way that a mod or anyone else would have known that he was up to no good. His entire posting in the classified section amounted to one post, in WHTEVO's thread about rims, in which all he said was "you have a text message". If he's sending people PM's, how do you expect moderators to know this? If people complete deals with someone via PM, it is THEIR responsibility to make sure they are comfortable with what they are doing. Moderators are not here to think for our members.....

You're being too sensitive, I said it's too bad, as in unfortunate, I'm not saying that a mod didn't fullfill any responsibility. They didn't pick up on it, perhaps from the bad guy forum there was enough light but it still happened pretty quick. I do agree with what you're saying, especially with regard to doing your homework before sending money. I know I wouldn't have sent him anything.

No, I am not being too sensitive, youre being too unrealistic. You said that the mods didnt pick up on it. There wasnt anything to pick up on in the first place. Like I told you, there was exactly one post he made, and all it said was "you have a text". No one else had come forward who had actually done business with him at that point and said "hey, this guy scammed me". There wasnt anything for the mods to "pick up on quicker", so lets at least be honest about it.

what "light" would you be referring to? Again, chief, there wasnt any "light". There was nothing. By the time that this thread was posted, it was already too late, dont you think? The mods couldnt save someone from being scammed before we even knew that that person was dealing with someone on the forum. Next time, try thinking before posting. Man, you posted what, nearly a dozen threads in all the classified sections yourself, warning people about this guy, did THAT stop anything? Did people still send him money? Its really funny how in cases like this one, some people talk about what the mods should have done....and then in other cases, where the SAME THINGS happen, you take a totally different position, because the seller in THAT case was a friend of yours. You went so far as to post up a poll that all by itself violated the rules here, so you could talk about how great your buying experience with your buddy was....even though he has ripped people off for THOUSANDS of dollars on this forum.

Maybe its just my opinion, but as far as I am concerned, you can be done talking about what the mods should have done. When moderators stood against your friend in that deal, we were the bad guys.....and now, suddenly, "the mods didnt pick up on it quick enough".

have a nice day.

He speaks the truth! I'm on a few different forums and I have never seen a moderation staff go to such extremes to help their fellow members as they do here. We're lucky to have them in the first place and people need to start appreciating that more.

I'm sorry for everyone who has gotten burned by this guy. I hope you all figure things out and somehow get your money refunded or parts delivered. Wishing you all the best...

He tried to sell me a 99 spec front bumper for $500 complete. I offered $300 to see if he was a scammer and he said yes. That was a sure sign of a scam. Sorry to see you guys got hosed.

Good point you mentioned...Scammers and Con Artist are looking for those types of payments Money Gram,Money Order,Western Union.Once they got your money you are under their mercy.Even with Paypal just you need to be aware of their regulations if not you also screw
