Bad experience with member seto kaiba!

Ok so I bought a JDM S5 engine from this guy on this post https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ght=seto+kaiba
He seemed like an ok guy talking to him. We arranged pickup in Jacksonville so I picked it up for $1000. I got it to my shop and tried to turn it and it was locked. I took off the turbo and see this.

I talk to him and he tries to tell me it wasnt like that when he had it and it was turning freely for him, now he's not answering my calls and I dont know what to do about this guy. Any suggestions?

Why didn't you try to spin it over before you gave him 1k? It isn't hard to pull plugs and spin it by the pullies/belts. Doesn't excuse a lie if you were told it is fine. But the saying goes,...buyer beware. You must cover your own ***.

+1...
Simple to put a 19mm socket on the main pulley and turn motor over... considering the money you were paying.
You may also want to try Marvel Mystery Oil.. I used it on an old GSL-SE motor I had sitting in the garage for over 2 yrs without turning. It freed up the Apex seals and motor ran fine after words..

Good Luck

Yeah I know i feel like an idiot. I was in a hurry so I forgot my tool bag. When I got to Jax the motor was wrapped up in bubblewrap, It was a little rainy so I didnt take it out. Oh well, I will just have to tear it down and build it up bigger and better. $1000 is just alot to spend on a core motor.

I don't get it? He said "as is". You can expect a bad motor when you see that. How did he screw you? Why are you calling him a hick?

You should have turned it over and then offered him 250 when it didn't spin.

Its a hard lesson but never believe what anyone says when they are selling crap. Also, he did say "as is", thats always a tip off that the seller feels like he needs to cover his a$$ on something.

Wankler, BLK is right, if you are buying an item "as is" it is your responsibility to be sure you are getting what you want before you pay for it.

Also you are acting as prosecutor, judge and jury here then asking us to accept the verdict. Ain't gonna happen.

If you have an issue with an item purchased from another forum member there is a proper way to deal with it. Using the SE forum to post accusations about another forum member is not the way to do it - that's called slander.

I haven't been there, done that, but I think the correct section is called "good guy, bad guy" or something like that. Check it out.

I hope you get this worked out but please don't drag us down in your misery and mud trying to do it.

Thanks
Ray

Accusations? Im simply telling You that this guy LIED to me about a motor he sold me. I dont want someone else to try to buy something from this guy that is completely different than what he told them both in his post and over the phone. Dragging you through my misery and mud? Again, im not dragging you into anything, im trying to look out for people like you who may be interested in buying something from this guy. I messed up by not turning it, but I still would have made a 350 mile trip for nothing if I hadnt taken it. Im not sure why you are trying to make me out to be a bad guy here ray? whats up?

I don't think Ray is trying to make you out to be the bad guy. ( I could be wrong) However I "think" the point he was trying to make is that by coming out in the SE section calling people names(hick,..etc..) is going to get you nowhere with competent minded adults. It makes You out to be the "******* hick"( your words not mine)

The way to have handled it would have been to go into the good guy badguy section and posted there. That would have given your side of the story a better audience.

That said, you made your point so let's all just let this thread die now,,,mmmmmK?

I have nothing against you, I don't remeber ever posting anything about you negative? I guess what I was trying to say in my smart *** way is what Ray Green said. Nobody on here thinks you're the bad guy.

I have some beachfront property for sale in the Everglades if you're interested.... oh, and a 91 JDM TII motor with 40k miles.... j/k.

The 88 'vert that I'm finishing is a story similar to this. "All it needs is a battery and a starter" ... I didn't think to pull a spark plug or attempt to turn the motor prior to handing over 600.00 bucks, I took the man's word on it that he was driving it, and the next day it wouldn't start. Thought it could have been flooded / etc... you read and hear about people bragging that they got a stellar deal on a 7 that was simply flooded out... anyhow.

Long story short: water in both rotor housings - motor siezed from rust.

Caveat Emptor

Yeah, he did say "as-is" and TheWankler should have done a more detailed check of the engine, but read some of Seto Kiaba's later posts. BS!

"As I need to sell the whole engine I am not able to part it out. It is an s5 jdm turbo rotary engine. It was under a 90 day warenty when I purchased it. I beleave and trust in sunrise motors And judge ing from the way it looks and how it felt when I turned the engine over it seems to be in good condition with great compression. but I dont have the wire harness or the computer to hook it up other wise it would be in my s4 right now lol but I do envy anyone who ends up with this motor I beleave itwill serve them well. again any questions dont hesitate to call any time well within reason lol later"

"compression is good"
