TX Turblown - Not so great

I see Turblown is yet another respected vendor here who does shoddy work so I thought I would share some of their RX-8 work. These are parts of their "Kit".

If you are considering using them then I suggest you read this thread.

The Turblown Low Mount Turbo System - RX8Club.com

Passenger side engine mount bracket.

Oh and this another members bracket. This is Turblown's attempt at modifying the stock bracket (remember this attaches the engine to the engine mount)

From Elliot:

The turbo kit was designed for optimum performance, not optimum fitment.

Yeah the customer service issues are horrendous as well. I sent them a turbo to have some custom work done and was quoted a time frame and it took twice a long and then the turbo was sent back to me unfinished from Comp Turbo in CA when I had sent the turbo to Turblown in MN. Comp did a good job of rebuilding it but none of the custom stuff aside from the Billet turbine wheel was done and Turblown never mentioned that they would not be doing any of the work. So basically I spent over $800.00 to have Comp turbo rebuild my non blown year old turbo and install a billet compressor wheel. Then I had to have a local machine shop do the work I paid Turblown to do.

The mounts are from two separate "kits" purchased. Not what you would expect for over $6.000.00. No one has purchased a low mount RX-8 "kit" that works as delivered thus far. One of the guys disputed it with his CC company and did get a full charge back. My buddy will spend close to $1,000.00 getting everything fixed by a local fab shop.

We've made some mistakes in the past, and I am pretty sure everyone has. We were overly swamped( 60k worth of turbo kit orders in that week) and we were trying to please everyone's time frames. 99% of customers are happy with our work. We literally ship to forum members everyday here. I can get an ARMY of forum members to post for us.

We gave RRRx-7 a 100% refund on his manifold( which was 3 years ago if IIRCC), and have ALWAYS offered to correct EVERY mistake we have ever made on any of our products. The down pipe above fit our mock car, and we later made it fit the new owner's car( we even paid freight both ways). Its is extremely rare that people aren't happy. RRRx-7 is the only Rx-7 owner to complain about a manifold we have sold( and we sell 3 a week!)

I have asked both owners who were not happy with their motor mount brackets to ship them back and we would correct them. They said they would do it themselves. I also gave one a free turbine housing shield, and lets not forgot he was extremely HAPPY with the rest of the kit w/ zero other fitment problems.

The original poster is a straight stalker( none of this stuff is even his) and know of several other business who he has done the same too.

Speed1 just installed the EXACT same Rx-8 turbo kit, and the owner Dave praised our work. He had ZERO problems with the install.

You guys are the best..
Thank you sir.

Nick H.
Everything got here today and looks great!

I will also suggest your products since we haven't had any issues. I thank you again.

Idio84
would like to thank Mr. White for all the help and great costumer service.

mannykiller

Service was top notch! Elliott answered all my questions fully and it seems like and has been an excellent support system!

Tony94S4

Great service and super fast delivery,
Thank you Elliot

I truly believe in you get what you pay for. And the quality of Turblown's manifolds are superb.

I think mine was definitely worth the money paid.

Zaridar
i would recommend Turblown in the Twin Cities!!!!!! Awesome work and Elliot is a great guy to work with! Very Willing to answer any questions! TURBLOWN - Turbo Kits, Turbochargers, Engine Rebuilds and Car Parts

Luckycat

Just want to stop by and give Elliot of Turblown Eng a 2 thumbs up. Elliot fabricated a turbo kit for my car that totally different than other turbo kit he has built for other customers. I personally met with Elliot and see his hand on skills on welding, fabricating parts and I am very impressed. Yes, his kit may cost more than others but what you get is a hand made kit made in the USA that fit exactly to your vehicle. All components used on his kit are real stuffs and not ebay or off brand stuffs. Yes, this bring up the cost but you get what you pay for.

Another point that I really like working with Elliot is his excellent customer service skills. He always get back to me either within minutes or at latest at end of day. I went to visit him at his shop a few times and see how hectic his works are and I am surprise that he still got time to be on phone/emails. He is also very open to questions and will tell you straight if it can b done or not.

Eventhough my car having engine issues, issues that has nothing to do with the kit he built for me, I would still totally recommend his turbo kit/products to others.

Neit Jnf
I agree, even though we never met, his communication via email or phone is great and his work top notch.

09Factor

And another happy customer serverd. Good job E!

I can keep going and make this about 10 pages long. There is a reason we have been in business for such a long time.

9krpmrx8 = low post count & zero credibility. I've known Elliot since I joined the forum and have ordered some of the larger components of my build from him. Aside that, he has give me hours and hours of information both over the e-mail and Phone that has helped me finish my build. I've met Elliot a few times and we have purchased parts off eachother. Never once has he come off shady, done anything shady to me or taken advantage of me...even when I was a noob to Rotary and pretty clueless to our cars. This thread is ridiculous and I think it's dumb people jump to conclusions before finding out the facts. Turblown is a VERY respectable and Professional company that have pleased thousands of customers world-wide. This thread is pointless.

There is ALWAYS going to be that 1 person that trys to spew all over everything, blow minor situations out of porportion and spread bs. YOU CANNOT PLEASE EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER/PERSON IN THIS WORLD. There is no way no how, never can be done. The GOAL is to have every customer satisfied, but if any human walks threw there town and asks every buisness owner about any unhappy customers it will go, "one time this one customer". Producing products and not standing behind them is one thing...Agreed to another pointless thread. Elliot said "ill fix the problem 100%". End of story, there should be no thread, no bashing, nothing.

I have dealt with Elliot before and ive had a few bad deals with him. But he has always been upfront and rectified the situation. I still do business with him to this day. He is human and as one he makes errors.. as long as he is willing to correct his wrongs that's good in my book.

Im sure Elliot will get everything sorted out and every party will be pleased. We as customers are quick to fly off the handle. ie when I felt I got a bum turbo.. but Elliot did everything in his power...even though the manufacturer was being the bad guy. Elliot got everything right.

Cool story bro, Did you pay $6,000.00 for a turbo kit and have to file a charge back with your credit card company to get your money back after months of wasted time and money? No but because you think he is a cool guy then that makes it right then. I have 23,577 posts on rx-8 club BTW. Not that that has anything to do with being credible or not.

Yes I am a stalker I guess, I don't let liars and hacks get away with ripping people off and wasting their time and money. The businesses I give a hard time too all deserve it. You, BDC, Mazsport, etc. You are all the same in my book.

And neither of the low mount kits you sold were fabricated correctly or fit properly. That is 100% indisputable fact. The pictures of your product speak for themselves and your list of lies and BS excuses speak for themselves. It's documented for anyone willing to read and I don't control who and what people spend their money on but as much as praises deserve to be posted so do bad experiences.

And I bet your *** the "kit" Speed1 installed was not EXACTLY the same. The two low mounts kits you built were not even exactly the same. But here you go with your BS and lies again.

Oh and I just read some stuff about another FD guy that recently had similar problems. I am sure he will chime in soon.

He didn't fix any of the problems and both of the low mount RX-8 customers would not do business with him again (and neither would I). And since when is a $6,000.00 turbo kit that you waited 6+ months for and arrived unusable a minor situation?

not defending anyone here BUT- you cant really expect a vendor to argue with the forum mob?
It never works out. This is across the spectrum on any forum with any subject not just your RX8 board or any automotive message board

so you didnt actually order any parts or work with turboblown?

Agreed.

But at the end of the day, I wouldn't expect a respectable shop to even think about fabricating something like this, let alone try to sell it. I hope they've significantly changed their design, but even then, producing a piece like this would lead me to question their basic understanding of engineering.

I can somewhat understand the cast aluminum one, looks ugly, but that's sometimes what you get when you weld on cast.

That is a flat out lie. I went out of my way and called Hoss about his motor mount and offered to fix it. He thanked me, and later said he was going to take it to a local to fix. The local said it was fine. After his kit was installed, the mount bent slightly and touched the intake tube. Again I offered to to fix it, and the proper solution. He never got back to me. I'm not surprised with someone like you talking in his ear. Prior to this he said on the forum, and to me over the phone he was very pleased with the rest of the kit, and everything fit well.

The other kit did not fit the end user correctly the first time. We did miss a few minor things, like the necessity for a under-drive pulley( our mockup car had one). Also his downpipe did not fit( although it fit our mock up car, and every other kit has not had any problems). He also complained that his bumper needed trimming to fit the intercooler. He also complained that he had to modify his under try brace to fit the wastegate. Which I did let him know half way through the build process.
I reworked the waste-gate position to clear that, and redid his inter-cooler brackets, and tubing, and gave him a under drive pulley free of charge. He was able to install the kit, and drive the car. If he got all his money back, why hasn't he sent all the parts back?

Further more it clearly states in our user agreement that we don't give refunds for any custom parts, used or installed parts. It also states we don't guarantee delivery times. You may or may not like this, but when you buy from us you are agreeing to this. You can't come back later and complain about that.

I can't possibly spend all day on the forums sifting through the BS, and posting back against a mob of you and your friends. We have since sold several more turbo kits to Rx-8 members, and they have all had ZERO problems and currently running. All the guys are in love with what they got. These guys don't feel like posting, and don't care about the internet drama. I have relinquished going on Rx8club because quite frankly we are still flat out booked for a long time and I feel most of the Rx8 owners don't have the right attitude or experience to heavily modify this cars. One cannot expect to over double the power of a vehicle with bolt on parts, and expect zero other modifications. One can also not expect to do a street tune themselves on a vehicle like this with zero prior experience. Furthermore most owners are doing this without a daily driver, and they expect maintenance levels to stay the same, and have the motor/drive-train last 100K+ miles.

You and your posse attack every vendor on that forum, and have been for years. You have gone out of your way to contact several of our other customers and try and dig up dirt on us( I would know because several of the guys have told me. It didn't work as they are all happy). You are also going after our vendors doing the same thing. The parts you post aren't even yours.

So yes you are a stalker.

I can somewhat understand the cast aluminum one, looks ugly, but that's sometimes what you get when you weld on cast.

We have changed it, and it was rushed. It was rushed because I overlooked that part being done, and didn't want the lynch mob ousting us anymore because we didn't ship the exact day we said we would.

You guys are missing part of the point however, there is ZERO space down there, that is all you can fit. A similar piece has lasted on 10+ turbo kits for years on end( one at 3+ Daily driven).

And yes The OEM cast parts don't weld nicely. I guess I should have not braced it, and it would be weaker, but would look prettier. Better yet I should have invested 30K for a new cast piece, to sell 15 of them a year.

I am not going to post anymore; we are far to busy to be wasting time here.
