what I'd like to do for an aux inj system in my FD

Hello, first off I'd like to say that I have been a long time reader of this forum but, this is the first time I have posted. Great forum with so much wonderful info, thanks! I've been wanting to do a methanol system on my car for a while now and I finally have the money stashed away to do it. I'd like to do something different than what I have read about others setups. I'm looking for constructive feedback on the idea I have for my own system. Please point out any flaws and or provide any ideas that you think would work better. Also if you have recommendations for rail pressure and actual injector sizes, please post them up.

Ok, here goes. I first need to mention that I run an AEM ems w/ an AEM P&H inj driver box and in between the two is a Racelogic TC (RLTC) unit. My thoughts here lately have been that I need the signal going to the methanol injectors to be controlled by the RLTC so that when fuel pulses are cut, it is cutting both methanol and gas to the motor. The AEM has extra injector outputs available however, my RLTC does not have anymore availble input/outputs. So, I'm wondering at this point if I can connect each of the two secondary injector outputs to two of the injector inputs on the P&H box, using one input to create two outputs? I haven't found out for sure, but I think this will work.

I was thinking at first that I could weld in two bungs to my Greddy compression tube and run two methanol fuel injectors. Then I was thinking that the distance between the meth injectors and the gas injectors was too great for it to accurately work w/ the RLTC. My next thought, which I think is a great idea, is to buy an Xcessive LIM which has 4 injector bungs. I would run my primaries and secondaries on the Xcessive LIM and then run the two meth injectors in the factory primary location.

I'm looking at running a 4 gallon cell, external fuel pump rated for use with meth (Weldon, Kinsler, or something similar), fuel filter, utilize existing aftermarket primary fuel rail, two meth rated fuel injectors (size TBD), and a meth rated FPR. I'd use the AEM to control the pump and the meth injector duty cyle would mirror my secondary fuel injectors. I think if I can figure out the proper size injectors, that this system could work really well.

any input will be highly appreciated.

thanks,

chuck d

hmmmm yes i want to d the same thing. but i already have the excessive LIM and wanted to modify the rail to run the methanol a bit farther up stream to help atomization, it would also aid in keeping idle nice maintaining the stock primary location. i was also thinking running some flex fuel injectors being alcy friendly.

and then thinking about it i was troubled at how you would be able to activate the injectors progressivly yet not till say 5psi. as the stock secondaries dont come on till a percent of the primaries is in use. pending on primary size and percent programmed into ecu this transition could be anywhere. im using the PFC i dont know if the AEM PNP has the same adjustments or not.

But a simple hobbs switch culd solve not turning them on till a set psi but its not a pogressive activation its on/off so tunning for the extra meth all at once will create some type of stumble or AF crazyness.

Yes using your INJ driver to split the channel will work just fine gys are doing it with good success running the Xsessive LIM with 4 secondaries and the FJO driver.

Others will Argue that you "wont know when its clogged" because you dont have the ability to put a sensor post "inj" like the FJO setup. But its just like your stock fuel system so is there really any more of a fear of it not working? No more than your stock fuel setup not working.

unfortunatly im in the middle of dynamatting and battery relocation so untill thats done i havent persued this any further but if you get it done here in the next moth or two id love to see how your setup ends up.

P.S. one other thing Chuck. beav was saying there was a rebuilt trans with that FD that was at your place. Do you still have it or is it gone? if you still have it id like to get it sometime if not so be it i guess.

there are a number of questions raised in the initial post and unfortunately i can't provide any help on the elec side of things as my only experience is w a Power FC.

i can be of help as to injector location. as i originally designed my alcohol system i thought i would position an injector at the top of each of the 4 LIM runners.

alcohol, i learned, is VERY location-sensitive. as the prior posted indicates, alcohol needs time to "flash" atomise. the ideal location for alcohol is at the upstream end of the Greddy elbow or a similar distance upstream from the throttle plates if you don't run the Greddy item.
