tuning AI as "backup"
how woul you go about tuning a car and using AI as a safety thing and NOT part of the fuel map?
so u do fuel map first and then turn on the power to AI?
if u do it that way how will it affect AFRs u dialed in already? (assuming im running alcohol/water)?

slo's comments are correct. if you are tuned and add AI without chnges in your tune you will be rich. how rich depends on the amount of injectant. you will lose power. if you retune you will regain your proper afrs and power along w a safer motor condition.

washer fluid is just meth water, its the same as mixing meth fuel and water.
Even if using pure water you will still loose power, the reason being is that water allows you to run leaner than you normally would without risk of detonation. so lets say you lean out by 5%, this will net you some additional power, you can also advance the ignition further in boost than you normally would netting further power.
If the water goes away your still lean by 5%, and advanced from what would be optimized.
If you take an already optimized tune and just inject water in on top of that than the tune is no longer optimized (not optimized for water) and you will loose some power.
If you can live with the minor power loss with the benefit of addition safety margin, than you should be fine with either water or water alcohol mix, or even pure alcohol (methanol ethanol whatever) in small amounts.
