i wont be running one plug just to let you guys know lol, the changes that i made also are the housings, i was using s4 housings which the leading plug was in a more advanced position, i am now using 3rd gen housings. other than that i also want to buy a dual probe egt gauge just to see whats going on. and buy another msd dis2 for the trailing coils to strengthen the ignition system

now for your opinions on timing, should i stay with 16deg at 20psi considering the new position of plugs because it should be more retarded either way than last time. and any concerns on split timing. i wanna thank you guys for all the info. and suggestions very informative.

update: car has been running now for a couple of weeks, running n/a since i am doing 3inch intercooler piping now;had to cancel power steering, after that then save up for another msd dis-2 for trailing coils.

heres a better pic of my car, running XXR 521, 18x10 rear and 18x8.5 front. (note rear has to be pulled even on 265 on the back)

update, been driving the car everyday saving up, but now im wanting to do the 8.8 cobra irs swap, considering that my diff yank the part of the subframe that hold it down, currently using a tensioned chain.

i was reading over my thread and i noticed that i never mentioned that after each pull i made my afrs would stay around 10.5-11.5afs for around id say 10 seconds? or i would rev it to clean her up. Then i started thinking how i cracked the front plate. It wasnt during WOT or even when i let go, it happened as soon as i started cruising. Unburnt fuel in the combustion chamber?maybe caused a misfire?

The plate cracking load always comes from two things: Tons and tons of load in the chambers from a combination of RPM and in our cases big boost OR it comes from short-living, very high pressure spikes in the chamber coming from odd-timed combustion (engine knock). Cruising at 3000rpm on the highway won't do it.

BDC i meant having an odd combustion right after a WOT run not during, maybe to much soapy wet combustible methanol left in the chamber and a really hot spark plug to light things up? definately 100% sure the plate cracked after a WOT run.

Since then i decided not to depend on methanol as a fuel source. decided to go with a 50/50 mix, after doing so my wideband isnt reading 10afs after a WOT run anymore. I changed out one of the M10 nozzles and replaced it with a 175ml/min nozzle preturbo also lowered the timing to 10deg instead of the 16 before, egts are 1420F @ 20psi so far so good.

this car is still my daily with A/c, amplifier, bazzoka bass tube, etc. so shes a bit more plump in weight lol, here is the video of my latest pass

Finally got my car into a dyno, i kept getting hickup at high rpms, i data logged it and it showed map sensor spikes of 29psi usually starting around 6000rpm, it would only do it at one unit of the log. Lets say my log shows 6000rpm-18psi, 6100rpm-17psi, 6200-29psi,6250rpm-18psi. that map sensor spike would cause the car to hickup at high rpm. and it wasnt at initial full boost it would happen also way into a boost run lets say 7250rpm.
The sacary part was the only way to stop it was to add timing and take away fuel at 29psi as if it was the 18psi map, and that solved my problem, but i consider it more of a bandaid.

I went in thinking my power band was going to be peaky but instead i got a long power band. All in All the car made 473WHP and i ran out of time at the dyno to fix some rich and lean spots, besides that on my last run the water/meth nozzle closest to the TB ripped off with threads and everything! lol good thing it was the last run. ill post dyno results right away.

now lets not state the obvious i know i still need to fix certain things like that lean spot on peak torque and a rich spot later on. BLUE is the LAST run, so you can see how i was correcting the rich spot in leter rpms, but that run i popped the nozzle so i didnt get to that part. =)

Let me know what you guys think =) it was 83degrees, i actually thought i was going to make more but hey the long power band is great, turbo spool is great too, runs where done in 4th gear, .90 backside, typical street port

Whoa whoa wait a minute -- Map sensor spikes to 29psi? Are you running methanol and a lot of it???

You know BDC before when i was having the spikes i thought maybe i was having intake backfires because of the methanol, Now that im using a 50/50 mix the car STILL has those high rpm spikes, ONLY on high boost though. i can run 15psi all day with no hiccups BUT if i crank it up to 20psi i start seeing the spikes. =\

Howard and I have talked about this before several times. I saw it on a customer's datalog on a plate-cracking dyno run from 6 years ago. I thought it was a fluke and didn't know what to think of it. I saw it again another time (although I've forgotten where) and then went, "wait a minute there's something to this". The couple of times I cracked plates on my red car's motor I didn't have a datalogger going so I have no idea (and it doesn't help it's the older E6K that only logs 11 samples a sec).

I think it's a backfire in the intake from an odd combustion pattern from what we suspect is instability in the gas/methanol combination coming from using too much methanol. I think the MAP sensor is registering the spike in manifold pressure accurately. Past that, I don't know.
