meth injection system on twins

I hate sounding like a noob but oh damn well..

Can you install a water meth injection system on the stock twins. Everywhere i look i only see it done on a single turbo setup, but i don't see why someone would not wan the extra power on the twins.

noob questions always invited as AI is a new subject to many.

actually the "twins" need it more than many singles as they generate more heat and (EBP) exhaust backpressure.

the twins are often running the OMP so they are more likely to be carboned up.

water would be the injectant of choice as cooling and decarboning are the key objectives. water fixes both problems very well.

i also feel that the non HD-AI systems (pump and nozzle) would work well at around 300 CC/Min.

easy to instal, cheap and highly effective.

interesting, what kind of change in horsepower could be expected with a water injection system on a stock twin setup

if you don't raise the boost and retune your hp should be approx the same... the addition of water with no other changes is primarily meant to solve the reliability issue. additional details re this in my recent post in the 3rd gen thread entitled "water, methanol or mix."

ok, so then what kind of injection system would I use in order to boost up the power of the vehicle and still maintain reliability.
Ive read a couple of forums with people using single turbo setups on methanol injection systems and coming close to 700 horsepower. Im running just under 400 right now and I'm curious as to how i can break the 500 marker without using a single turbo setup/

unfortunately the factory turbo system runs out of air at around 375+. you will have to go to an aftermarket turbo system to make above that hp.

I'm probably one of the few, if any running ~30% meth injection on 99 spec twins.

I've been running this setup for a few months now. 13-14 PSI with 30% of the fuel taken out of the map under boost. Increased timing about 6-7 degrees and still shows no knock once the meth starts injecting. It's really amazing stuff. This FD is very quick and is probably laying down near 340 RWHP. I start injecting meth at 3PSI and the FD loves it!

I'll post pics later.

What if you're application is going to be time-trials on road-courses ? Don't you need the high-resolution ?

TIA,
:-) neil

///there are a few forum members that track their cars at Road America and run the old style with water. apparently they get it done. personally i think that the HD AI setup should work much better as you are constantly feathering the throttle in boost. your delivery will be precise and i think it will pay for itself in the long view.
