For a long time my knock sensor just showed 1 on the pfc at all times. then after several months it started working all of a sudden. When it did start working knock was around 20 at 20 psi. i just considered this no knock and just engine noise being picked up. Even under low speed driving and cruise it would show around 10 or so at a minimum.

  • This video will demo the nozzles at the end. the #3 550cc was too large.
  • Turbos is t04r or T67 w/ .7(a/r) from garret (stamped and serialized)
  • knock sensor i'm using is brand new mazda oem unit my previous one just stopped giving readings so its replaced. AEM won't give you whole numbers for readings like power fc it just read the volts which (knock is read in) once i get my tune 100% complete i will post data logged tables.
  • My tune is at the moment a full throttle tune so at partial i'm still getting sputter and un-trackable behavior which hopefully guys at PFS can handle since my current tuner is just trying to screw me out of money.

Hey guys I just got my car dyno'ed by steve kan in MN and made 500 flat.

Here are my mods:

KG R85 turbo kit
1600cc sec and 850cc prims
coolingmist variocool II kit with (2) M10 injectors running straight 100% alcohol
21lbs of boost made 500hp and 417 max torque
engine is a Howard Coleman build with Howard Colman large street port. The man him self.
Tuner was Steve Kan the number one man tuner for fd's.

And as for all the other stuff I dont know what my knock and stuff is. But Howard can confirm my power and dyno cause he came all the was from green bay wis to MN to see my car dyno. and I have to wait for MA performance here in mn to email me my dyno sheet and I will post it in here. I couldnt push any more boost cause my wastegate spring was maxed out.

Hey touturborx7 I was actually looking into that turbo kit and was wondering at what RPM did you get boost at and when did you reach FULL boost? Although it may not be such a big thing on most people but I like the fact that the wheel is made out of Inconel.

i will shortly have touturborx7's dyno sheet so you will have the details but i did notice that his runs made 200 rwhp at 4300 rpm which is excellent for a turbo making a bunch of hp on the topend. many 500 hp runs posted show 200 around 4750.

Hey howard I was hoping to see you post in here. LOL. I am really happy with this turbo it spools hard and gives good HP. Plus with howards great build and ports Had to do alot of it also. Thanks alot howard for the great motor you built for me. I would recommend getting this turbo. At 13lbs it was at high 300hp close to 400hp. that was shocking to me and howard. I wish my spring didnt max out as for I would have wanted more boost and hp close to the 600hp range. But all in all 500 is really really good and lots of power. I babbied my car after the tune cause I just feel like one day of 2 hrs of beating was good enough on her. LOL I havent driven the car ever since the tune starting it up and warming her up and checking my fluids. LOL

as Bruce mentioned i am very impressed w the R85 (Tec 300) turbo....

note 200 rwhp at 4300... most 500 hp setups make 200 at 4700. it should be a street rocket.

also 417 Standard Tq is monsterous.

nice job Bruce and Steve and Coolingmist/methanol.

howard

thanks for the post and congrats.

doing some converting from DIN and NM (it looks like DIN is very similar to our Standard Correction) you made about 519 Standard 509 SAE and torque converts to 391 pound feet STD and 383 SAE.

spool looks pretty good w 200 rwhp being reached at just below 4500.

It doesn't specify so I don't see why not. You have to be running AI though.

So many systems out there that I dont know which to buy. My set up is the normal single turbo 850cc/1680cc with a streetport. I have read thur the stickied threads, but im unsure on what system is best for me. Goal is 500hp!!!

We have used most of them and for basic needs just do the AEM or a Coolingmist kit.

Today I made 528 rwhp 428 ft/lbs torque, 24 psi boost, 93 pump and a AEM WI kit with one coolingmist CM7 super atomizing injector (500cc/min at 150psi) spraying water only, with a 200/250psi new AEM recirculating pump, nozzle near the exit of my greddy 3 row fmic. T04r single turbo, .96 A/R. 850s and 1680s, Aero 340lph pump. Mild streetport engine built by djseven, my tuning, Power FC.

At 528 HP my Torque was 403, 6878 rpm, AFR was 11.8 (11.2-11.8 afr across the powerband), leading timing logged at 9 (7 in the map) split 12, knock 4, PIM 26231, 1.59 bar on pfc, inj. duty 80.4 , AirT 23C.

200 hp at 4300 rpm. 300 hp at 4700 rpm. 400 hp at 5200 rpm. 500 hp at 6300 rpm.
457 hp at 8000 rpm.

Glad to be in the 500 club haha.

ya a few months ago. I blew a turbo, debated on getting another set of stockers or bnr's but just decided it was time to upgrade so I can run more boost and make alot more power! Hopefully make 10s a little easier too

**** i cant for the life of me with 535 hp on my single. your car is close to mine on build. Although last time i was out tuning i maxed my fuel system out on 22psi on aem ems. im thinking the supra pump is not holding pressure

I switched to the Aero stealth 340lph and it went way rich above 18 psi boost, so my supra pump probable was losing fuel pressure and my map was too rich to compensate. so with the new pump I was able to lean out my map and drop my idc and then run more boost.
