Any update on the flex fuel sensors? How many miles have you guys been running E85?

I just bought a FD and got rid of my 640awhp DSM street car and have ran E85 for years and always loved it. Def the most forgiving fuel out there which is why my FD will be converted immediately. I have personally ran 1/4 mile 10 seconds runs at 17:1 the whole way due to vacuum lines blowing off and sustained no damage at all.

I noticed some guys wanting to do meth or H2O injection in conjunction with e85 and I can tell you it will provide no benefits. Dyno tested and proven . I have seen the sludge some guys get but have seen no evidence of what actually causes it. In 5 years I have never seen it in my fuel system and I checked often.

Mine has been great. I am using an older GM unit. I have a -8 90 off the return from the regulator to a Y fitting with a -8 inlet to 2 x -6 out to split the fuel flow. Half the fuel goes the the flex fuel sensor and both merge back to a -6 Y to a straight -8 just before the run underneath the car to the tank. I have been over 600WHP for about 5 months on this set up with no issues what so ever with fuel pressure. 100% rock solid.

Yeah...That's the way to do it. As soon as it gets above freezing here, I might go and hook that up. Winter sucks!

Do you have a picture of how that fits along the firewall?

Its not easy to get a phone where it needs to be for a really good picks of the Y fitting before the run underneath the car. If better pic are really needed I'll have to do it from underneath the car.

For all the people that are worried about running out of gas. I have been running duel fuel systems. the cars already comes with a duel stage fuel system so it makes it easy. The primary injectors I run ID1000 or smaller with 93 and run four ID2000 on E85 or meth. If you run low on E85 you can still drive the car home or drive long distance. With this setup you can have a 900hp street car.

That's a really good idea. I'm already running ID1000 primaries and 4xID2000 secondaries. What do you use for the 93 octane gas tank?

dual setup would require two tanks and pumps with returns and feeds for each? along with fpr?

run a fuel cell that just holds ethanol?

sounds great to me

I just take a stock fuel tank and clean it out really good. Then cut a box out of the PS. box it off weld it up drop a 4 to 5 gallon cell in that place. run 2 more pumps and FRP and 2 more lines bam your in there. you can even have the ecu turn the fuel pump on only at 3k to 31/2k RPM's so your not heating the fuel up.

I started testing e85 about two weeks ago in my car, and these people are not lying, this fuel is very impressive, my cooling fans almost NEVER come on now, and at 15 psi the car pulls alot stronger, and the tune isn't even completely dialed in yet, i'm still running a bit rich. I can't wait to get the tune dialed in and turn up the boost!

You have to assemble it in the tank, hard but it's easy once you get used to doing it. These pics are all before it was anodized. Running E85 in my setup. Oh and the factory fuel gauge still works.

Each pump feeds its own fuel rail. 2 rotor full bridge making 810 RWHP @ 23 psi on E85 only.

Fuel rails are:
primary with ID 2000's
Secondary with Bosch 1680's
Third rail with Bosch 1680's
Whats the benefit of having each pump feeding its own rail? And can you still do that with a surge tank and external pumps?

To simplify the fuel setup I might just run a single Fuelab pump. I don't know much about fuel systems but I've got most of my E setup compiled.
Also, can't you just have two maps for two different fuels on a Haltech? Lower performance, less aggressive tune for 93, high boost for E?

or you can just buy a Flex Fuel sensor be done with it. I have set mine up for anything below e50 10psi, above e50 25psi.

I ran mine at e30 not too long ago and the flex fuel sensor works like a dream. idling with ID2000 no problem.

Dont buy the sensor from Haltech they will rip you off. Do some search and find the GM part number for the sensor is like 50 bucks

Im actually getting the sensor aswell since my mech said it will be safer and was explaining to me about bad batch of gas or if you use 93 and e85 the ecu will adjust for it

So is there a difference between the haltech E85 sensor and the GM E85 Sensor? or are they in fact the same?

Its really not a lot of lines, its a pass thru with a balance tube for the restriction the sensor creates.
People tried connecting it in line and it didnt work well at all. Running the supply line straight thru the sensor to the engine resulted in a loss of pressure and i think erratic readings. the loop balances it out and cures that. Its also meant to connect to the stock fuel rail.
