did I miss something,
l thought we HAD to use an external fuel pump because of the electrical connections.

Did they have people running E85 without doing anything to the fuel system?

Crisspeed how long do you run your engine before switching oil.
I did 300km ( 186 mile ) and my oil was full of E85.

I wonder if Mazda knew about this, hence the new Direct Injection Rotary engine they've engineered (16x)...

A question about E85 to those that has run it on there car for a while.

Have u had problems about E85 "leaking" more into the oil then normal fuel?

A well respected rotary tuner in scandinavia is warning ppl against using E85 on there car. And he says it should only be used on drag/race cars that change oil every 250km.

He says he has testet it and changed his oil after 250km, and he said that the oil was so thin due to so much E85 had mixed with the oil.

Anyone that can confirm or deny this? If so please explain, cause i realy do not want to change oils that often. My oil intervals is at 1000-1500km atm.

I wonder if he is running it too rich? It sounds like. Pump gas will do this too if you run your AFRs low enough.

That was my opinion as well. He never answerd how rich he was running the car. But yes i would think he's running it too rich. But i would like to get an answer from someone that has been running E85 for a while.

From the experience the ppl here in norway that run E85 on piston motors have, i would say the same thing does not happen on there engines. But i know they run them on the lean side. But with E85 that is not a problem, since knock is not an issue, and exhaust temps drop alot with E85.

I'm curious about this as well. 250km oil changes would be insanen. you'd think on a healthy motor (no blowby/leakage) with a good tune it wouldnt be an issue. is this an issue on methanol cars? i also wonder what oil they were running and if running certain synthetics could prevent it.

Can someone answer the guys questions?!

Is it safe to use ethanol without worrying about oil changes every 500km?

If we premix, what is the correct ratio?

GRR! Answers!

I don't believe anyone has enough experience with it to answer definitively. My oil has always smelled like gas even with leaner mixtures. I don't have problems with oil burn off on startup. So I don't believe its out of the ordinary. If I have to change my oil more often with E85 so be it.

The premix question has been answered. GRR! Read!

As fritts has said, I don't know of anybody that has put enough miles on an E85 turbo rotary putting down nice power to tell one way or the other. That's not to say that I don't wanna here back from you on this Cris.

last spring my car was tuned on e85 to 423whp @ 18psi on stock ports. my car has not been premixed, my tuner told me there was no need to as I was not maxing out my OMP with my tune. I can't speak for beyond my hp levels. I've only got 12 miles on my car since the tune as it was in the fall, and then winter came. I will be changing oil shortly when spring is upon us, I'll let you know of my results.

I think it would at least be a good idea to run some klotz lube in with the E85 just for the pump's sake.

I agree, but if i have to change it every time i drive the car for a couple days, thats just a bit ridiculous. I still want it to be SOMEWHAT streetable. 1500-2000 mile oil changes i could handle but 100 miles? **** that.
