simplified wiring diagram 420d/440 (trying to)

OK as title says, I have been trying to simplify the diagram. nothing to fancy just trying to make it simple for the average Joe (including myself)

I think It's good, but I'm sure there are people here with a lot more experience that can point out what needs to be changed. And I will be happy to edit it.

So let's start

I have a diagram for stock trigger with aem coil direct fire

and

I have a ffe trigger kit with hall sensor, aem coils direct fire

Here is another version showing how to wire for a Pro-Jay intake manifold combo( 8 injectors). This is also setup for direct fire( preferred over OEM wasted spark).

It also shows how to wire the for both FC and FD crank triggers.

While I am it;

10 injector combo found on your typical methanol drag cars is attached.

And here is a how to guide on using Innovate products;

1) MTX-L to Adaptronic:

a) Requires Serial Cable #3812 (4ft, Molex to M2.5) from MTX-L to Adaptronic

2) MTX-L to TC-4/SSI-4 to Adaptronic:

a) Requires Serial Cable #3812 (4ft, Molex to M2.5) from MTX-L to TC-4

b) Requires Serial Cable #3760 (4ft, M2.5 to M2.5) from TC-4 to Adaptronic or

c) Requires DB9 Serial Cable #3746 (6ft, DB9 to M2.5) from TC-4 to Adaptronic

3) LC-1 to Adaptronic:

a) Requires included Serial Cable #3789 (6”, M2.5 to M2.5) from LC-1 to Adaptronic or

b) Requires Serial Cable #3760 (4ft, M2.5 to M2.5) from LC-1 to Adaptronic

4) LC-1 to TC-4/SSI-4 to Adaptronic:

a) Requires included Serial Cable #3789 (6”, M2.5 to M2.5) from LC-1 to TC-4 or

b) Requires Serial Cable #3760 (4ft, M2.5 to M2.5) from LC-1 to TC-4

c) Requires Serial Cable #3760 (4ft, M2.5 to M2.5) from TC-4 to Adaptronic or

d) Requires DB9 Serial Cable #3746 (6ft, DB9 to M2.5) from TC-4 to Adaptronic

Hi Miguel (?),

Do you have the Plug-in RX7 ECU?

Guys if you want to add 2 more secondary injectors for an Xcessive manifold for example;

You just wire extra injectors in parallel with the secondaries( split each secondary wire into two, so Rotor 1 Secondary will control the two extra secondaries on Rotor 1).

You also need to change the injector current to 1.9amps as pictured below. With this configuration of 1.9 amps you can only run high impedance primary injectors.

If you have a Plug in ECU here are the steps to configure it;

1. Save a copy of your existing file, and open it while the ECU is not connected.
2. Access the hidden menu beside "help", and change the ECU ID to 440 (remember what yours is - should be 21 for S6/S7)
3. Change the injector current by accessing the "Triggering Settings" page found on the Triggering Tab.
4. Bring back the ECU ID to the original one.
5. Hit File\Save As to save the new settings.
6. Connect the ECU, and load the new/edited ECU file (File\Open).

Here's a video of Andy doing a different setup change for an FFE trigger kit, but the steps are the same -

I should have been more clear on the above; use the above method only if you're 4 secondary injectors are less than 1200cc and use VE tuning. If you are using 4 ID1300s or 4 ID2000s you need to wire them for 3 levels of staging( like an Rx-8) and use all 3 injector fields in the software. Currently you can only put a maximum size of 2500cc in for each injector field( when using VE tuning, for INJ M/S tuning this does not apply). If you are using E85, then you're injector value should be set at 30% less( again you cannot go above 2500cc using VE tuning, so this rules out 1600, and 2200cc+ size injectors, but allows the use of the 4 ID1300s in the secondaries). I will get detailed diagram with ECU settings and wiring schematics posted.

I have asked Andy if its possible to do make the injector input field much higher to accomdate all injectors, but if this is possible it will take some time and another firmware update.

I believe it reads, "Pin C MUST Ground to the same head the spark plug is discharging into".

So on a rotary, that's just grounding to the nearest point from the spark plug. Others would be able to pin point where that is.

Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification, can anyone else help with the specific location this pin grounds to?

Thanks

So, I am doing my best to figure this out here but need to clarify a couple wiring questions :

- Injector outputs 1-4 are 12V NEG. ?

-What source for INJ 12V POS. should i use i.e. relay or fused IGN on 12V POS. (Fuse Size)

- IGN-1A coil amp draw? I was planning on using a Painless Performance IGN on 7
circuit adder to power coils and others (seven 10 amp fused circuits) , will this work or do I need 1 relay coil per coil?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Pins B and C on the coils should ground to their respective rotor housing. So you'd have 4 terminals ganged together on each housing. Pin D should be connected to battery negative directly. Pin E connected directly to battery positive through a fuse and relay. We fuse all four coils for 20 amps total.

So Pin B on Coil should not be connected to Pin 2C or 2D? Should they (Pin D and coil grounds) be grounded to separate spots on the housing? Can it be on rotor housings or should it be on the irons? And I am assuming current draw for injectors is low so my one 3-10 amp circuit will be enough power?

Thanks

if battery in the trunk do I still run D all the way to battery,

right now I have all the grounds on one point on top of rear iron (ecu and coils)

is that it ok?

Intake everything to the battery. Easiest way to ensure proper performance.
