Leading and trailing firing at same time

In the middle of the IGN-1a direct fire conversion I noticed with a timing light that if I lock the timing in the ECU both the leading and trailing coils are firing at the same time. The ECU shows the correct -5/-20, but the timing lights is showing all four coils lining up on the same spot on the pulley.

Quick video showing timing locked in Adaptronic:

Video showing me checking with a light (checking all 4 coils):

Relevant mods:
Adaptronic Modular S5 PnP
IGN-1A in Direct fire
MSD Super Conductor 8.5mm wires
ID1000x4 injectors
BNR Stage3 stock hybrid turbo
Stock 2nd gen CAS

I was running 1.94 Eugene and 0.214 FW, but at the suggestion of Adaptronic FB I upgraded to Eugene 1.96 and to the latest FW 0.220, but it did not change anything. This one definitely has me scratching my head.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to give a status update on this. Michael conveniently had another car to test the ECU on and the issue did not follow to the other car and Michael is going to be changing out his engine harness.

Thanks,
Shawn Christenson

In case anyone cares...

I was able to do some testing yesterday and the first thing I did was move the Adaptronic over to my other S5 turbo FC and loaded the bone stock basemap as supplied with the ECU. The car fired right up and ran fine. I took the timing light to it, locked the timing at -5/-20 and the marks lined up as expected on the leading and trailing respectively. That proves right there it is not an Adaptronic issue.

Back to the car in question, I performed a compression test and the front rotor has bad compression (46 40 73 PSI), white the rear is still good (99 101 97 PSI). I suspect there could be a wiring issue, maybe the 30 year old harness that has been previously screwed with, who knows. It explains why the car was running bad before the direct fire conversion as well.

I wanted to say thanks again to the support I received both with Shawn @ Turbosource and Adaptronic via FB messenger. The plan going forward is to swap the good motor into this car and get it ready for DGRR next week.

Another follow up, because who else hates finding troubleshooting threads with no answers...

The issue turned out to be my timing light picking up noise from the plug wires. Once I moved the inductive pickup to a different spot on the wires the timing lined up correctly as expected.
