ok i tried a different placement for my nozzle since i wasnt seeing any temps dropping under boost inm y haltech datalogs. i was running dual m10s about 3 inches before iat sensor. im running washer fluid.

i was told dual m10s was too much so i removed one and put the other upstream more. (bout ft before iat nozzle).
no change! why aint i seeing temps dropping like other people?
im running a fmic intercooler.

 

The problem is that you are running washer fluid. Washer fluid is predominantly water and uses just a small percentage of methanol to prevent it from freezing. Your IAT is so close to your nozzles and with the air velocity in the charge piping, the water is unable to remove any measurable heat.

Secondly, water in suited for in-cylinder cooling moreso than charge air cooling. If you run a 50/50 mix you should see a temperature drop.

 

You went to 14 psi boost with only a 3ºF increase in IAT. Check an old log and see what the increase was. That is your improvement.

BDC got a greater decrease but he was going into boost at 116ºF IAT, the higher the temp the more easily the decrease toward ambient. And he is using 100% meth.

Which IAT sensor are you using?

im using haltech gm open element one. and i did a few pulls w/o w.i. and basically the same.

 

I use 50/50 water meth and my temps usually stay the same while boosting.

If heat soaked to say 60ºC it will drop my temps back into the 30's with just a little fogging. I have an extra switch that can be modulated while doing an easy acceleration.

what type of temperature sensor did you use?

 

FYI, my temperatures drops up 15 degrees C at 22 psi of boost when running 100% meth. I've got some logs where my temperature drops from 23 degrees C to 8 degrees C. The amount of temperature drop is also commensurate with the volume you are injecting.

ya its getting there, im only running one m10 nozzle now. i still have to "up" the mixture to 50/50.

 

Ok, I'm still new to this stuff, but wouldn't you want to be monitoring your exhaust temperatures if you are running water only?

Ah, I missed that.

 

with a physical intercooler, you won't be able to see the temps drop as much as someone running no physical IC.

At this point, you are using AI as a knock deterrent only. There is nothing wrong with that. It is equally or MORE important to have a cooling effect happen in the combustion chamber. Straight water is best for knock deterrent.

If you want to see AITs drop drastically, you need to put a nozzle before the compressor. The compressor is where ALL the AIT heat is generated.

Unfortunately, a physical IC will likely erase (or equalize) the AI effects after the air passes through the physical IC.

 

so do u think i should do a pre turbo m2 or add another m10 post?
i used to to runduel m10s post turbo and it didnt choke so im assuming it wasnt "too much" washer fluid.

 

Adding a pre compressor M2 would be enough to cool AITs.
Do you have a metal intercooler? I thought, for some reason, that you did.

EDIT**
I see up top, that you are running a FMIC. I'd like to see what a pre-comp jet does when used with a FMIC.
My theory is that your temps will lower slightly, but not nearly as much if there were no FMIC at all.

 

its a aluminum fmic. 12x23x3 if i remeber.

 

what is your goal here? Are you using AI as a knock deterrent? or AIT decrease? both?

 

i guess both. but now im seeing it appears my EGTS will should be looked at more.

 

yes, log and track EGTs as long as you are spraying post comp.
