Your next investment should be one of those turbo blankets, and some s5 body parts/new paint job.

Holy crap......

If I see another post bashing on Patman's *appearance* of his car I'm going to **** a golden apple. You people seriously need attitude adjustments.

I'm not at 500 yet......just over 400. Maybe if I do some race gas pulls one day I can pretend

people with really ,really nasty 2nd gens don't post too much.

Meh, maybe some day. I don't think a T04S will do it, even running race gas and maxing it out. Maybe some day I'll do a T04Z which i'm sure could do 500+

btw, are you running alky injection?

im not knocking the setup, i have plenty of respect for anyone who can do a 20b swap, then make 570 hp off of it, especially at his price-point. However, based on the pictures posted, some things did look unsafe, especially the "tin foil" (which it really isnt, but i've seen tinfoil catch fire before... maybe it was a coating or something, but that stuff went up really quickly) and loose wires that could get caught in belts or the fan or something. The IC could also be more protected from tossed rocks and other road debris, but that just stands out to me cause i DD my 7. I dont know if he does or not, but most likely not , so that point is moot.

Out of curiousity, did the 20b thermostat housing come stock with the overflow tank nipple there? I havent seen one mounted up on the neck before, all i've seen are the ones on the radiator itself.

I suspect my setup will do 500 HP once I get into some real boost. Hell, 13 PSI on the GT40 breaks traction in 1st, 2nd and 3rd....

6 port block, high compression
Street port primaries, secondaries and exhaust. Bridged aux.
GT4088R on custom manifold (~16" runners, 2" diameter) with Tial 44MM wastegate
720CC primary/1600CC secondary
Custom upper intake w/75MM throttle body
Decent sized front mount
Microtech LT8s

I've just started tuning in boost so it's still pretty rough. Not really enough road to do it safely, need to book some dyno time. A/F ratios under boost are in the very low 10s, timing is only at 10 degrees but the car is still a monster. Full 13PSI (wastegate spring...) by ~3500 RPM and generally in 1st and 2nd the tires just fry. Going to the 1/4 mile tomorrow so hopefully soon I'll have some numbers.

Exactly

Mine doesn't really count because of not having a sheet, but I would say I was up there...

That is a stock TII waterpump. I drive it to work about twice a week. Mostly I ride the bike, so this is basically my rainmobile lol. I'd say I total about 4k miles a year on this car. Never had a problem with loose wires or anything. Like i said, it may not look perfect, but it runs very well. Someday I may get around to cleaning up the engine bay and re-doing the paint, but I need a cage, a drivetrain, and better tires first. As for traction, I have a dual stage boost controller, so I usually run 10psi, and I have good traction in 3rd and up. At 17psi I get marginal traction in 3rd, and rarely spin in 4th. This is with 300 treadwear 275s on the back. I am going to get some falken 615s soon, which should help a lot.

If the alky injection thing was to me, no. Just 93 octane and good tuning.

Aaron that manifold is sweet!

No need to prove that statement wrong. It has already been done.

Pat, glad to see you have the car making the numbers you want. Thanks again for making it to Columbus. I hope to see you here next year too.

As for the noise of the car. I didn't think it was too loud. Sounded tuned and not ratty like others I've heard.

if I'm within reasonable driving distance I'll come any time.

as for noise...well with 4" to dual 3" corksports, its not exactly quiet. It gets pretty loud if i drive for more than an hour or two, but I like the sound of it, so it doesnt bother me otherwise...

the reason nobody gets to 500hp is nobody is willing to put a big enough turbo with big enough boost to make things happen. everyone wants to run 1 bar on pump gas.

^ Or some people just like to use RX7s for what they were built to do, which doesn't involve just going down a dragstrip...

Wow, haters amaze me! This feels like Youtube!!

Honestly. He didn't ask your opinion, and why should he? He has a freaking 20B!! You should all be bowing to him for having the sexiest engine to ever come out of the Mazda gates (for production use) O_O..

And Aaron, I didn't like the paint at first, but wow. That's a show-quality engine bay if I ever saw one!

BINGO!!!!!! a lot of people don't ever want to turn it up for various reasons... either way the setups i'm doing lately should soon be netting some nice numbers once we get our dyno setup.

i'm not afraid of high boost and my customers aren't either since if i blow it i build it for free i should be posting graphs very soon!!!
