Now, I'll bump this from before to get the thread back on track:
Now, to the RX-7 members of the thread, there are a couple things we need to address:
A) Forum sponsorship. Ryan doesn't seem to be interested, so there's a couple things we can do. I can start a section on www.rx7classifieds.com to do this, or COsborne at www.theforumlounge.com would probably be more than happy to be involved. The nice thing about TFL is that I'm an admin, so I can at least trim the fat (and the bullshit) from the threads. Personally, I'd go with the TFL route, unless Ryan decides this is something he's 100% behind.
B) Raising finances. I had a nice 4 hour drive tonight during which I came up with the following idea which I wanted to run by you guys:
I will go and buy 1000 raffle tickets. Exactly 1000. For every $25 in cash or parts you donate, you get a raffle ticket. Now, the parts you donate must be required for the build, don't go sending us drum brakes from a Chevelle or something, and the part will be judged for fair market value. For example: I'll donate the full rolling shell of my FB, and I'll say it's worth $500, which is fair market value. Therefore, I'd receive 20 of the 1000 tickets for the drawing. I propose that IF we win, one lucky ticket holder will receive the forum built car. As a consolation prize if we were to lose, one lucky ticket holder would receive any of the left over money from the build. 1000 tickets x $25 is $25,000. I'm sure we could turn a rolling FB shell into a 9 second car for that. Because there are ONLY 1000 tickets, everyone has a damn good chance of winning the car or the money or whatever. It could be some kid in Idaho that only shells out $25, or it could be somebody who donates an $800 turbo. Just so there's no funny business, we can have a BBQ or something where my 3 year old will pull the ticket. Pure luck of the draw, he can't be bribed, and he can't read to be able to pull my name.
I think there's enough people here who would step up to the plate to help us build a kick-*** car they might be able to own. You guys wanted to find a way to get something out of this, there it is. IF we win, we can do the same thing with their car: 1000 ticket raffle for it, and the money raised goes to a charity of the forums' choosing. Remember, this is a drag race. There is a very good, very real chance we will lose the car, and walk away with nothing. Do not underestimate our opponents, they are serious about winning, and are farther ahead than we are. What do we have on our side? A massive advantage in membership. Let's use it.
As far as "major" sponsorships go, I'd like to get one of the big-time performance engine builders here to cut us a good deal on a motor. I honestly don't think there is a single forum sponsor here who can eat a $5k engine, but maybe they can knock some money off. For that, they get their logo painted on the roof of the car or something. We can sell off space like on NASCAR or something. I know classicauto has offered up paint, which is totally bitchin', and I'm sure he will come up with something awesome for us. Provided we do get on the show, it's a ton of free advertising, so what do we have to lose?
3) We need a driver. I don't know about you guys, but I sure as **** ain't driving this car down the track. Who's the most experienced driver on the forum?
4) Committees. We need to form up different groups to start troubleshooting and problem-solving this bitch. Rules, safety, motor, finance, etc.
Anything else?
Oh yeah, the donations should be via check or money order only, because paypal would **** us on fees. Whoever is going to be in charge of finances better have their **** together. If it's me (as someone nominated me for it), that's cool. I think Goofy is pretty local to me and wants to be involved, so we can make it a two signer account so there's no worries from anyone that I'd be taking the kids to Disneyworld or some such ****.

I'm looking forward to seeing what we can come up with. If this goes through, this is going to be an awesome experience for both forums and everyone involved. If it doesn't, hey, at least we got some laughs.
$100T2, if you can build a car as well as you can pwnzor ********, this **** is in the bag.
I have a ton of TII engine parts I'd donate to the build. Irons, intake manifolds, etc...
if you think it will take $25k to build a 9 second rotary... well, bwahahah. Have some faith man!
It cost me $2600 (canadian) (NOT including the car!) to build an 11 second rotary, and that's with a full interior AND building a motor. Another $1k and some weight reduction and it would be knocking on 9's. $25k better get a car into the 7's. and $5k ought to get it into the 9's. Especially a 1st gen, they weigh what, like five pounds soaking wet, and a 9" swaps right in, so no dealing with IRS ghettoness.
if rx7club people aren't interested, lets just build a TFL car.

Notice, however, that you can't even defend anything I've said. You try to deflect my barbs or put up some (in your mind, clever, I'm sure) smilie, hoping to detract from what I've said, but the fact remains: You are coming over to a forum that you don't really belong to, you do only post inane things (I looked at all 23 of your posts, trust me, they are inane. Look it up, I'm quite sure you don't know what it means, seeing that your reading comprehension is pathetic), and you can't come remotely close to me in trading barbs.
If I'm the brains behind this, then I think we'll do just fine. Since it will be a joint forum effort however, I think our chances are better than average.

First of all, I would like to point out that people talk **** about racing are stupid. Anyone who knows me knows that I say this all the time: You go to the track. You agree on conditions. Then, the person who gets to the finish line first wins. End of story. Some little CHILD off a Toyota forum can come in our house and talk **** if he wants, but I will not just sit idly by and not say anything. This forum got me into 7s, it has given me support for 7s, and it has taught me more about the rotary and good forum conduct than pretty much any website. So people like this Toyota dick really get me pissed off. SHUT. THE. ****. UP. about races that haven't happened yet. Whoever gets to the finish line first wins. But until it actually happens, only children say things like "We will beat your *** lolololololol." What is this, kindergarten? My dad can beat up your dad? I don't care if anyone thinks that this *** clown from the Toyota forums has "won" any sort of argument he has made in the last couple pages of this thread, because the second he came in here saying all that dumb ****, everything he had to say from that point on was completely invalid.
Also, I would be willing to buy at least one raffle ticket, and I may have some parts to donate. Obviously, the problem here is that people don't want to buy tickets or donate parts/money to something that they feel others may not donate parts or money for or may not find someone willing to work on. We really, really need forum owner/admin/super mod backing if any of us really want to do this. Forum owners, we are trying to represent YOUR forum. You gotta do whatever you can to get people involved in this...well, I mean, you don't HAVE TO. But we could have a way stronger, concerted effort if you did.
I would be down for buying a ticket, or maybe a few tickets, especially if it meant we got to send children back to school.
Peace.

I might be able to let go of a tubular manifold for a 13b with a divided t4 flange if its not sold anymore, ill know in a week
http://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...t=649ca1ac.jpg
the one on the right, however the waste gate flange is cutoff along with about 1" of each of the runners, and easy fix for anyone with tools

How about this, lock this thread and whenever you guys get everything organized. PM someone over at 3TC.
This thread has turned ugly and is making everyone look bad.

Ok fellows I ask the admin to delete all my posts and hopefully this can take a turn for the better. I will not resort to any trash talk or comments that are not helpful to making this race fun and worth while. No one wants to be involved in a verbal war just a friendly race. Hope we can turn this around and go forward from here....
