Zimax Street Port

Hi ppl,

I am getting my engine from Zimax Japan... Have any of you heard of them? Are they good? I am getting a street ported engine for the stock twins... Altough i am a little confused about porting.. Can someone tell me the pros and cons of the motor i will be getting. Also they have put in the 2002 seals in the engine... Were they different?? How much Hp increase would i get...

I have a Bigger Greddy stock mounted intercooler, Apex-i N1 Exhaust, Apex-i Intakes, Apex-i GT Spec radiator, Knightsports dual downpipe and greddy e-01 boost controller. My Power FC also just arrived... will install it after i have run-in the engine...

How much Hp should i expect ??

is it worth the money since there are plenty of good engine builders in the U.S.?

You might want to try posting this question in the Far East / Japan forum. You will probably get a better response to it there. Most of the US people in here source their engines domestically and have no real experience with Japanese engine builders.

He is in Pakistan. He should go through a Japanese or Australian distributor.

never heard of zymax and since everybody has e different take on porting its hard to say but generally you can expect a different idle .,,..lower vacuum at idle ....you sould deffenetly feel a difference in top end since the engine will breathe better .....hp is difficult depending on a lot of variables (timing /boost etc) the car should deffenetly feel stronger though

I never street ported a FD but did my FC.

little more of a pain to set idle but is do-able.

It changes the intake timing (kinda like when the valves open).

Get worse gas milages on average.

Lose a little low end but gain mid/high end.

did you get intake/exhaust ported?

Also each port is different. Some street ports can be pretty aggressive.

Hey i just got the specs for my engine.. But sadly all in Japanese... It does have the front and rear rotor compression test graph for my engine... the front rotor is somewhere around 7 and the rear is around 9..... It also says compression will increase once my engine is broken-in.....Is this good... I can attach the graph of the rotors compression too if it will help...it also says something like 219 rpms for the front rotor and 222 for the rear... Any idea what this means...

Thanks guys

I don't have much ported engine experience but i know compression usually go up with break-in. Although i have always liked to see 8 or more front and rear rotors for a compression reading before break-in.Did they use all NEW rotor housings and components? 219 and 222 are the rpm's that the engine was turning at when the compression check was performed. On a side note...... Do you have to run sand paddle tires on the FD? That would be a CRAZY-*** dune buggy!!! You've got to have one of the only FD's there...yes?Any pics? Good luck with the new engine.

is 7 compression for the front rotor really bad... i mean i paid alot for the engine... i don't want anything that would just do... i want something good...

Oh yes they have used all new rotor housings and components... Please please tell me this engine is good i have waited alot for this.....

I tried attaching a picture of my car but it says file to big to attach even though it is only 320k...

7 is fine for a new engine...........

have faith..........

your car shouldn't have problems with compression if new housings were used. That's the most directly linked item behind seal that give compression.

i'm kinda surprised they got a 9 though

Pakistan!! I am wondering what the temps during the summer are there

You must be the only one with an FD. Doesn't get overheated?

This should give you a pretty good idea what it is.
