you fail me yet again FD (help)

i have been posting up a storm here.. wow. I search everytime and never find what im looking for. at first my idle was at about 2.5k and would drop to 2.9k (ish) and jump back up (loping, searching?) me and a friend took the UIM off and checked the vac hoses, what a nightmare... but we got it all back together hoping maybe it would be fixed. car took a minute to start up but when it did my idle was at 1.2k, steady. but when i got on the gas the car engine would just lose all its power and do nothing bascially. if im easy on the gas it moves but if i put too much into it it just shutters and shakes. similar to a 3k hesitation... im SO lost.. and SO frustrated. im determined to fix it tho. any help or tips would be great. and if theres a decent shop in so-mich then let me know...

thx everyone, viva la club

Last time that happened to me it turned out that my Jacob's ignition system had died and I was running on only the trailing plugs. But this can be caused by MANY MANY things. TPS? Maybe...

Troubleshooting a problem like this can take a while and a lot of work. I really can't tell you much more unless you did something to the car before this happened? What mods do you have?

id say check or reset your tps voltage to where it should be. thats a start. have you removed anything off you uim lately that could have threw off your idol? egr? aws? double throttle?

has your engine been rebuilt recently? you should really include this stuff in your original post.

you can also remove you plugs and check them. the shaking really makes it sound like plug foul

check the vac/pressure hose to your MAP sensor. if it is off/leaking your engine's computer will not know where it is rpm and load-wise.

where can I find the map sensor?? I searched but didnt return any results. i took off the UIM when I did my spark plugs and forgot to put that black hose back on it and started it up w/o it. but i put it back on and it ran fine for a few dyas before the idle problem started

An easy way to check for fouled plugs is to remove them, put the wire on, and rest them on a good ground and crank the engine. Watch for a fat blue spark and don't zap yourself. Turn the fuel pump off as well.

MAP was disconnected, and my plugs were black as hell. RPM is still bouncing around a bit tho. only boosting 5lbs.

Were the plugs firing fat and blue or not? Figure out your compression too.

That's basically the bare minumum... your seals are all still there, but that's where the good news stops. In my experience building, and listening to what prof. builders say, I wouldn't call anything under 100psi "good".

You can test one at a time or take all the plugs out. It's probably better to do one at a time, but I'm sure I've done it both ways before and I'm still around to talk about it.

also do you run a PFC? If the idle is bouncing, make sure it runs its Idle Learn. 10 min idle, 10min with AC and 10 min with Defrost. Then it should idle like a baby.

You should be going to the factory service manual for that one. It's free to download from the FAQ.
