yet another start up issue

Ok, when i start up my FD there is a crazy amount of white smoke (smells like oil). Heres the weird part though, the oil pressure gauge at start up goes up to normal pressure but after a minute or so it goes dead, (straight down),no pressure. W/ the smoke i'm reading in the forums that i need to start saving for a new engine. Regarding the gauge, would i need a new oil pump too, or is there some sort of sensor i can check. Car is 100% stock

Any feedback would be appreciated.
thanks.

The oil pressure part is probably the Oil Pressure Sending Unit. It's located down under the oil filter. It has a tendancy to get dirty and send false readings (or just fail altogether). I would try cleaning it first. If that doesn't help, then replace it.

As for the smoke, it could be one of many problems. I would check your turbos first. Then Oil Metering Pump, and lastly this thread:

Good luck!

Was the smoke happening before the turbos were replaced?

ya.... smoke was there before... thought it was them... sent them off to be rebuilt, put them back in, start the car and the smoke still there... car idles kind of ruff too, and i'm scared to drive it w/ no reading from the oil pressure gauge.
