In the almost 100 FD's I've worked on/driven, I have never had a map sensor hose come off, whether it be the original vacuum hose, aftermarket silicone, or aftermarket rubber. In fact, when i want the map sensor hose to come off, I am usually pulling and twisting enough that I worry about breaking off the nipple.

third, you need to list what your suspension set up is, what you plan to do, if you are going to go widebody, etc

and fourth: USE THE GODDAMN SEARCH BUTTON, or just browse other threads. so many people ask the same questions, all it takes is a couple hours of research. How many times did you search this topic in the 38 minutes between the original post and your bump? Ill bet that if you gave me 38 minutes to search this forum i could find 100 posts that would give you your answers... in fact, you should have searched before even starting this thread, and you would have saved me all this typing.
Now I suspect you are going to get really angry and spew out at least one more quote I could add to this post...

I'm not sure why you choose to participate in the forum the way you do - it appears you have 2FD's, another rotary vehicle and do work on your own car. You could be someone who makes significant positive contributions to the forum...

Sorry to muck up your thread 1.3Ldreamcar - I will keep an eye out for your compression results.

after owning his FD for a month and a half, my friend got stranded on the higway because the hose to his map sensor popped off.

We had to call a tow truck because we thought the motor was blown and didn't know to check the map sensor.

Not to get off topic a thread jack but mine has popped off as well (more than once). The first time I was racing on a road course and I thought for sure the motor had blown before I inspected and saw the hose had popped off.

Wow, that's really strange. Maybe DPO's (dumb previous owners, or maybe even current ones ) dont know how to secure vacuum hoses to nipples? Or maybe they are using oil soaked hoses. I seriously have never had one come off, or personally known someone who had it come off...and I have worked on a lot of Fds. For that matter, I've never had one come off an FC either, of which I have worked on 2 or 3x as many as FD's.

Many, many, years ago when I had Mazda replace my engine; the hose popped off about 1 week after getting the car back. They reused the old hoses; it was basically hard as a rock so it had no grip on the MAP sensor nipple. I suspect a lot of people have a similar issue. Nothing a new line couldn't take care off..

Did I hurt your internet feelings? I'm sorry... You both know me so well, I feel like we've connected. How about you both come over and wash my mouth out with soap?

Annnnyway, lets move out of cry-baby mode, did you get those compression results?

Another quote to add to the list of immature, angry things stokedxiv has posted.

well I've had my map sensor come off under boost. But at the time I was a complete newb on Rx-7's so the thought of a blown engine never entered my mind and of course dodged a heart attack.

I agree with shawnk, there's no need to be rude. How about we keep it civil for the forums sake?

Happened to me once. A while ago. I knew nothing about the car. Trailored it 4 hours to Pettit racing. Cam found it before it was off the trailor. So I pulled it off and the mods. began to spiral out of control. The day i began the " FD disease" HEHE! G

When mine came off it came off under the little filter (not right at the sensor). The lines were stock but still soft. A zip tie solved the problem but then the next time it came off it did so on the other end of the filter (top of the filter). I then zip tied every possible place it can come loose (should have done that the first time) and it has been fine ever since. The only times mine ever came off where when I was racing on the track so the under hood temps would have been high making the lines softer and also only at high RPM. Scared the crap out of me both times it happend.
