TN Yellow Headlight

May be hard to see from the pic.....
I just did a plastic "restore" on my headlights and turn signals. I also replaced the bulbs with the Sylvania SilverStars.
The driver's side looks great (in person), but the passenger side has a "YELLOW" glow inside the bulb housing. What's going on???

1. Production failure in the bulb

2 . the early start of a burnt reflector.

Can you cross-swap the bulbs and move the problem to the other side? If not, it could be the reflector.

Most likely just a shitty/dying bulb. Toss in a set of new bulbs, done.

^ He already did change the bulbs.


Perhaps a ground issue.

Have you swapped the bulbs? That could narrow it down to a wiring issue or if it is a bad bulb. Check voltage to the bulbs as well.

Many thanks! I was afraid any answer I got would mean having to tear into it again. I'm pretty handy around a car but this was a PITA. I'll check the voltage first. If that pans out, I'll switch the bulb. I'm bettin' on it being a bad bulb. The reflector "looks" OK from what I can tell (without pulling the lens off). The car only has 15k on it but it is STILL almost 20 years old.

Why not swap bulbs like Oyvindjs said, side to side, and then you can arrow it down to the bulb, or the rest of the system...

Checking thevoltage at the terminal will either dictate swapping bulbs or not. May make the diff btween tearing apart 1 headlight -vs- 2.

Fixed....

I checked the HIGH beams and had NONE. Hmmmm.... Took the lid off and looked. I had the connector in sideways (dumb*$$). When I put in in correctly, BOOM, the lights now work correctly. Nice white beams in both lights.
