yellow foam in oil

i went to do the regular add some oil and behold what do i find yellow nasty foam on the bottom of the cap and down the filler neck. i know it's from moisture, or at least i think i do. but what could it be from, there's nothing loose. i really don't think my vented hood should be cause for concern since it doesn't drip near it, but who knows.

Your in Northern Ca. right? Has it been getting cold/cool at night...condensation? Especailly if the car doesn't fully warm up, or doesn't spend long enough at operatiing temp to dry out. Like on short trips maybe?

Sounds like you have water or coolant in the system. I would do an oil change to make sure its not completly contaminated.

Yeah, more than likely it's just condensation. If you want, change your oil and check for coolant. But it's probably nothing to worry about.

there has been a lot of cold weather and condensation, and come to think of it friday i only drove it for about 3 minutes to the other side of base to do something. i'll check it again tomorrow, if it's there again i'll change the oil before i leave. just glad to know that it's just water like i thought

I'm not saying that it's your motor, but I used to get that white/yellow puss looking thing slobbered all over the filler neck n inside of the cap with my motor with shot O-ring (coolant seal). That time, I did get white smoke at start up, hasitation of upon start and gushing sound coming out of passanger side dash.

After I installed the rebuilt motor all of it went away including the yellow puss.
