YAY, PPF is all welded up

well about a month ago i broke my PPF(this is when i was 100% positive that it broke). after looking for someone to do some welding a friend that i forgot that knew how to weld just came to mind. took it to his shop, 30 minutes laters its reinforced. its nothing super(welds look good) but it will get the job done. ill let everyone know how a welded PPF goes. i didnt take any before and after pics since i am lacking a digi camera. i sure wish i had one. it was cracked on both sides furthest away from the exhaust hanger. crack went 75% the way. almost cracked completely and that would have been ugly driving down the road. ill keep everyone informed. also, replacing the fuel filter is a snap when the PPF is out

Yeah, let us know if it works out ok having it welded. I think the general consensus was that it would just crack again, right(?) But maybe if it's done right it'll hold up.

With proper welding it should be just as strong or possibly even stronger than the stock unit. Let us know how it works out.

ill let you know how it works if i can see more of that girl KYLE. she is damn hot. actually my buddy welded perpindicular to all the welds. if you weld paralel it will just crack on the same spot. i think there is about a 1/4 inch over lap on each side from teh welds. ive seen some of the stuff that he has done in the past and its still holding his 500+HP 68 camaro together.

okay, i put the fuel filter on and the PPF and took it for a drive. runs like new again(or before i broke it). there is absolutely no shifter bounce or tranny hitting the tunnel. im happy, i got my car back from the gremlins. cost me 10.00 for my buddy to weld it(paid for supplies). im gonna drive it normal(my normal is hell) and see how well it continues to hold up. first time i notice it giving out im gonna park it and ride the 954 even more kinda a win win lose there. i want to beef up my suspension before i take it racing again since it was my mushy suspension that allowed it to break. ill keep everyone informed how it holds up over time. KYLE, where are the rest of those pics?

yeah, i had a friend doing it though. if i could have gotten my hands on a welder then i would have one big PPW(power plant WELD. i would have liked to reinforce it even more than what we did, but its all he had time to do. hopefully if it breaks it doesnt crack along the same spot. sure is hard to remove weld from metal. oh well, wait it out and see.
