here's my setup with the same intercooler. I decided to tilt it at approx 45deg to make it look more like a V mount. i just bought larger angled couplers to make it happen. And now my Apexi air filters fit great. without interference.

Without it, the only air it will receive is what has already passed thru the radiator and is now hot.

Same goes for the air filters: without some sort of heat shield it is only getting HOT air that has come thru the radiator and intercooler

I have the same intercooler, it came with the car. It did not fit with the M2 duct so I am making one to fit it.

nope, but i'll be adding an electric fan to go on top of the intercooler very soon.

Not trying to be a jerk, but you realize that without a duct , the intercooler will not be doing anything except absorbing the hot air that has already passed thru the radiator. This defeats its purpose. It require "cool air" to perform its job.
