Those of you waiting, go for it!! I have pics if anyone wants to see, but I am sure you have seen it before!! Maybe they dont have any flow numbers, but for what I paid I am super happy!!

Thats awesome man!!!! You got a great deal. I paid $250 shipped for mine. Congrats!!! I was def. one of the ones worried, but it all worked out.

NuTbAgSaN 03-01-06 08:57 PM

yea im really surprised with what some guys have done with these. good luck!

subiworld 03-01-06 09:18 PM

what kind of duct are you going to be using, can't wait till you post some pic

vtecgsr95 03-01-06 09:41 PM

The only thing that is odd is the boxes say "fc3s" on them......but the pics in the auction show an FD and the auction also says "RX7 turbo II FD3S" so whatever! But I checked with the same people and their intercooler kits that say "twin turbo rx7" are exactly the same aside from the piping being 2.5" as opposed to mine which is 2.75"??? Either way, its the right one and as soon as I get a radiator installed Ill start making a duct. I am trying to come up with some ideas using sheet metal since I have some friends at a local heating/ac buisness that has access to sheet metal and obviously are good at making ducting! Ill post some pics when I get started!

mine said fc3s on it to but worked out fine

TrevorC 03-01-06 10:22 PM

will this SMIC work good with an GReddy elbow?

Brent Dalton 03-01-06 10:35 PM

Yeah, they all say FC3S for some reason. With the Greddy elbow, you will have to fab. a pipe to connect it from the intercooler to the elbow.

BOTTLEFED 03-01-06 10:36 PM

It will not work with the Greddy elbow.

I also got mine for $130. I need to get some pics of it installed but its been raining.

Bad_Karma7 03-01-06 11:31 PM

I don't remember reading anything negative about these units...gonna have to jump on the band wagon. Hell $100-$130 that is the cheapest mod I've done to this car.

M14socom 03-02-06 12:09 AM

I need an intercooler

Where can I find this intercooler, because I was looking at paying around 900 for a good intercooler. Is it stock mounted position or is a front mount? Got any pictures?

Narfle 03-02-06 12:14 AM

stock mount. use the search button. its a good looking piece. the jusry is still out on wether or not the actual intercooler is a good peice or simply eye candy.

id love to see a picture looking inswide the intercooler.

jic 03-02-06 12:17 AM

Search...I believe someone did snap a picture of the internal fins. Also people have posted better temps with this intercooler. I'm convinced that you don't have to spend all that money to get a good intercooler, at least it's definately better than stock.

RotaryResurrection 03-02-06 12:46 AM

People spend more than $100 on the ghetto ass air intake mods that various vendors sell, that claim to give hp and cooler air. I can almost assure you that any IC is better than the stocker, both in temp transfer and pressure drop. For the money involved you can't go wrong.

just one quick question for you guys does the piping come wit bov flange on it already! cuz in sum of their pics it seems as if piping has flange for the bov to go on it!! can any1 tell me if their is or not

KaiFD3S 03-02-06 02:04 AM

Yes it does. The flange is located on inside of the pipe that runs from the y pipe to the intercooler. I believe it is made for the Greddy BOV. I used my Apexi BOV, but had to cut the flange, turn it 90 degrees, and weld it back on to make it fit. Other people choose not to use it and simply block it off and continue to use the stock location.

Here is what the kit looks like installed. This was just a mock fit-up. I'm still waiting on my intercooler duct so the car hasen't been driven that much.

Where are you buying your intercooler duct?

M14socom 03-02-06 01:20 PM

Would this intercooler fit with the Greddy intake? Also it looks like you have to remove the smog pump.

Montego 03-02-06 02:26 PM

cool.

But I must say without ducting, the stock unit still outperforms this IC. Or any other SMIC without a duct for that matter.

SMIC without an air duct = crap.

Brent Dalton 03-02-06 02:34 PM

that is true, any intercooler without a duct is crap... thats why I haven't been driving my car much. I am getting the one from the group buy. He isn't making anymore though. Don't know if the intercooler will work with the greddy intake. I would also reccommend using a heat shield as well. I use one although it is not on in the pictures because it was just a test fit. As far as the smog pump. People have made it work with the air pump and strut bar, but mine would not. I eliminated it(no big deal, I don't have emissions and I run a midpipe so it wasn't doing anything anyways). But like I said, there is a picture in the other thread where a guy was able to use it with his air pump and strut bar.

RX7Crazy_84 03-02-06 04:51 PM

what if you dont have bov what cud i do for time being? to block the flange
