xs engineering ignition amp

I dynoed my car about 6 months ago but had some high rmp breakup. I'm going to dyno it again next month so I wanted to try and ignition amp to see if it helped. With the recent problems with the AEM I've just about talked myself into the proven HKS twin power even though it is quite pricey. But I also saw the XS engineering one and it was almost half the cost.

I've searched on this but all I could find is that it is a re-badged B&M new volt and that Jason at rx7store has tested it and got good results. I also found 1 or 2 posts from people who ran the B&M and had no problems.

Who is running the XS or the B&M? Has anybody had any problems with them?

Unless I hear a decent amount of good things about them I will just go with the HKS. But I thought I would see what everybody thought before I spent the extra money. That extra money could be used for many other things that my car needs.

The XS unit is actually a rebadged B&M. B&M is not making their ignitions any longer and I think XS took that over.

Also, the HKS Twinpowers came down quite a bit in price not too long ago.

From what I understand of the XS/B&M unit is that it bumps the voltage to the coils to 20V vs. 12~14V stock.

Yeah I knew that part but couldn't find too much feedback from people running the B&M either. Thus the thread. Thanks anyway though.

Thanks. I saw the price had dropped to around 450 but the xs is still 200 cheaper. I'm 98% sold on the hks but wanted to make sure this wasn't one of those cases where the consensus was that the cheaper one is almost as good as the expensive one and the better bang for your buck so to speak. I guess I should just be satisfied that I am getting the hks cheaper than alot of other people on here got it for.

Actually, it's $395 from the RX-7 store, plus the cost of the harness. I believe the HKS is the only one that drives ALL the coils - trailing and leading. Not totally sure there.

The XS Amp boosts voltage on all coils as well.

BTW. I have one for sale if anyone is interested.

Here's a sweet post

Sorry for the lame-o post. I have the B&M, it installed in 10 minutes, and has been working fine for about three months. I have not had a chance to get tuned yet, so no info on how it does clearing up any probs with ignition break up. Should get it done in a few weeks

I'm using the B&M. I used to have ignition breakup and misfires at high rpm before and now the car runs super smooth. No complaints here.
