WTF? Mazda changed oil pan in Malloy Reman

Installed the engine today. The driver side engine mount from my 1993 motor didn't fit. Well, Mazda added an extra oil pan bolt right right where the top flat surface of the mount abuts against the oil pan. So I couldn't tighten the mount flat against the oil pan.

I think Mazda updated the oil pan and added an extra bolt to increase clamping pressure on the oil pan. Mother ....

I ended up drilling a relief hole(i.e., a counterbore) into the mount surface so that the when the mount bolts up, the relief hole allows the extra oil pan bolt to rest in the relief hole.

Installed with DP and transmission attached. With another grease monkey, got it installed in 1 hour. Now the hard work begins.

You could have left the bolt out and put some silicone into the hole and mounted up the mount. If you look at the drivers side mount you will see that there where the 10mm bolt is the mount is raised and it touches the oil pan.

I noticed that too on a reman I recently dropped in. I just took out that bolt and put some silicone in the hole. The mount presses up against the oil pan there anyway so it should hold fine.
