No, the problem is that you don't even know how little you know. So far from what I've seen of your posts, you're a typical little puffed-up 15-year old that would do better by lurking and learning than trying to "advise" people on here.

A) You don't know nearly as much as you think you do.
B) You aren't mature enough to realize point A, yet.
C) You don't have any experience with owning these cars, or any other car for that matter. Nor do you have much experience with life at this point.

There is nothing wrong with being 15. I think it's great that you're enthusiastic about cars and RX-7s. But you are in NO position to give anyone on here advice or recommendations so I suggest you stop trying to give "advice" and start learning.

You mentioned "reliability mods"... that's why the original response was warranted.

by the way, do you know what an ECU or a PFC is? How about an intercooler? and AST? No?

I got my FD this past April (after lusting for one for 7 years) and sometime following month in late May I had already spent $2,000 for parts and repairs. Mainly went to a rebuild in tranny almost. I knew these cars were fragile before buying but my love outweights how much money will go into it. Many of the reliability mods have been done and that's really what I attend to do only. But it's good to have emergency money or AT LEAST expect something to break at any given time..if you can accept or do that, it's all good.

Why do we all know that it's a money pit but still love an FD? You'll find out once you've test driven one. Good luck with your decision!

ECU- controls what happens with your engine and how things work

PFC- no

IC- cools down the air coming from your turbo, so you can compress more air into less space

AST- air seperator tank

EDIT: if it was because i said reliability mods, then why did he ONLY quote me on the "small turbo" comment?

LMAO...that's actually mostly true, but every week or so, i drive it around the block, but i'll need gas soon, and it leaks coolant and might have a BHG

EDIT: what does IBTL mean?

Its not that serious. My speeding tickets were for going 6 over and 2 over the speed limit. And why would you say that I am going to get more speeding tickets?? Just because ive gotten them in the past means im going to keep getting them?? Or are you saying that the rx7 will attract more police?

You think itll cost more than $75? I checked with progressive and thats how much itll be for liability under my moms name. She has a perfect driving record, she NEVER got a ticket before.

And I plan on purchasing a Valentine 1, voted best radar detector 4 years straight. And I got pulled over twice for having NO front license plate.

$250 per month? Damn bro that expensive. I would be around there or most likely higher if it were under my name. Most we have ever payed was on my old crx which was like 110 only cuz I wrecked it. (who the hell does a U-turn in the middle of an already busy road during rush hour???) Do you have full coverage? I think if we wanted full coverage it would be around the price too.

Do not get an FD. Liability only? Jeez. You are not in a financial situation to afford to properly own this car. Wait until you've got better finances.

I'm not being an ******* here, just trying to save you a lot of grief and to prevent yet another FD from being poorly maintained.

I agree. Liability may be all you are required to have, but what happens if it's stolen, keyed, run into, you hit a deer, etc., etc., etc.?

As said above, these cars need to be properly maintained, which costs money, even if you can do the work yourself! If it is not properly maintained, it WILL cost you much more than the maintenance would have in repairs and aggravation.

Oh, well, if you do get it, it will be a great learning experience...

I can afford full coverage, but would rather not. If I pay for full coverage and I wreck (wreck being MY fault) Im STILL going to have to pay a deductible and my insurance is going to go through the roof. (again) I learned my lesson the first time. Also, insurance has nothing to do with maintaining the car, when it comes to a car like that I will baby it, if anything goes wrong I will drive my second car until I get the funds to fix it if I already dont have it. Sound good or does it still sound like I should wait. Im not like many other 20 year olds out there. I am very good with cars and own my own business. I just opened it and it is kind of slow but thats how it is with cell phone stores. Pretty soon business should get better (if god wills).

i got my stock fd last october. It had 77k miles on it. So far i have spent a little under 10k. When i got it the first thing i did was took it to have it rebuilt in december. I had set aside money for that. I have never had a problem with my car yet.(knock on wood) i have done the "reliability mods" and a couple of other things. when i got it dynoed it was @ 306hp on rx7 stores mustang dyno and always starts right up and is a blast to drive. So yes it is possible to have a quick rx7 and have it be reliable. Not my daily driver. I have put 2500 miles on it since rebuild.

$75 a month for insurance and u have 3 tickets? Im 20 and have 2 points on my record and pay $247 a month. I also have a 2003 ninja 636 and pay $99 a month for insurance.

I would say when you have the money to buy one wait and save 5k more.

What the guys are saying is that if you are going to cheap out on the insurance, then this is not the car for you. Going cheap on anything with this car causes more problems than it solves.

While the purchase price it's not that high for these cars, the cost of parts an maintenance still is....

EXACTLY!!! Don't do it. I am sorry but Rynberg is damn right. You better get your money right and then when you do, buy something else. This is starting to get rediculous, if they want to know all this ****, let them find out the hard way. Sometimes you just can't tell people ****. These guys are just proving us right. Its fun being a kid, but commonsense never played much of a role. Where are the parents? Mine would have never let it happen, you know the whole wrapped around a tree thing. Get a Honda!!
