Question is it wrong to...

not have 99 spec tailights?

im only 16 and cant afford official ones that cost 500 bucks.

i have seen people doing these themselves and selling them. Are they worth paying the price of around 100 bux to convert them? and is it reliable for the long run?

THANK YA

Did my own for around 5 bucks. I get rx7 owners all the time. Are those the real 99 J specs, nope I made them myself. WOW! They look really good, you can only tell if you get up real close and and eye ball them from around 3" away. It will be as reliable as anything else. Just make sure IF you decide to do them yourself to get make sure the glue is evenly spread around the light and seals good. You don't want water in them. You will know what I mean if you start doing it.

If your a brand name person and have to have everything done the 'right' way, just get the fakes.

Also, you are damn lucky to have an FD at 16!!! Respect the car.

Just to let you know, there are people out there that do these for a lot less than 100 bucks. More so around 50-75 bucks.

I just sent my tail lights to rx7even. I will post the results when I get them back. His work seems very clean from the pics I've seen so far.

A guy here in town just put vinyl on the outside and I thought he had the '99 tails till he told me. I didn't look too closely though, but most people wont. I think he paid like 10 bucks for the vinyl.

The DIY lights look better IMO. The spacing of the Jspecs circles is off. Further watch out as some folks use 80mm for the brakes and 75 for the blinker. It is much closer to 85mm and 78-80mm for the blinker.

I did it myself and used black rustoleum textured paint. It works much better than flat or gloss paint as it doesn't give a finite flat surface - looks more factory IMO.

Don't worry if they don't like you like you, man you will be flooded with girls. The ones that like you as a friend will introduce you to their friends...trust me
