writeup:RX-7 beauty plate

supplies needed: 1/8 inch thick or more... sheet of thin plastic from home depot or loews razor knife scissors sharpie marker 1000 grit sandpaper clear contac paper drill and bit 2 colors of plastic paint ruler or straight edge newspaper file pen Ok I beleive that is all the supplies needed... I am making a write up on how to make the rx-7 beauty plate in the front of my car.... or it really can say what ever you would like...efini... FD3S... whatever... Many people have asked where I got this, but I made mine... so here it is.......The first thing I did was take a picture of the little badge on the back of the car... I then transfered it to the computer where I made it to the size I was looking for....then print it out....mine ended up on two seperate sheets of paper...cut the rx-7 out then you want to cut a piece of contact paper off of the roll to work with... place the rx-7 on the contact paper(the paper side) and trace around it... once that is done then cut it out ... I hade to use a razor knife for the middle of the R....ok place the rx-7 aside for now ....Trace out the size of plate you would like, or you can trace your license plate... I wanted it to fit as close to the edges so i made my own size...once the size is determined, cut it out...I used a box cutter and a stright edge over and over, until I thought it was deep enough... then I snapped it off... It made a nice clean edge ...once it was to the size I wanted I rounded off the edges with a file... next drill out the holes to mount it on the bumper...ok now take your pen or sharpie and write face on the top of one side... I wrote it on the white side ... The stuff I got had a blue side and a white (plastic film)... I do not think it matters....on the non face side peel off the plastic covering.... next, scuff up the non face side with the 1000 grit sandpaper just enough to not make it so slick... next wipe off the dust with damp clothg then dry it....flip it over to face side....take the rx-7 and place on the plate to mark where you want it ....Once it is in the middle take your straight edge and mark from top to bottom with your sharpie on both left and right of the face side... this will let you know not to go passed these lines when you stick on the rx-7...next mark a line from left to right off of the center of it because this will be a guid to follow when placing the rx-7 now all the lines are made... you should have two lines running from top to bottom and one from left to right,on the face side ....Now flip over to non face side... see the guid lines...peel off paper on the rx-7 and place it with in the marks you made ....It should read rx-7 backwards...once it is on, make sure the edges are rubbed good so no bleed through....place out some news paper so you can paint...place the face side down on painting surface... non face side you will paint... paint two coats of what ever color you like ... let dry... make sure it is dry!!!then take your razor knife and gently peel up the edges of the rx-7... once it is up enough, use your fingers to remove it....it looks pretty cool like this ... but your not done ....now place face side down again on painting surface and paint the other choice of color over the rx-7... I did two coats... once it is dry, paint one more coat to protect the color in the rx-7... I went back to the first color ... let dry!!!! now that it is dry... peel off the face sides protective plastic film and enjoy !!!!

Looks very nice, but there's got to be an easier way. The way you did it is certainly beyond my limited talents.

Have you tried reading your own posts?

What have you got against paragraphs?

Seven lust, thanks for posting the info, first of all. Secondly, I agree with moconnor. Your post would be a hundred times more helpful if you had spent a couple extra minutes on formatting.

I don't mean to toot my own horn, but here's something that I wrote in the past, in comparison:
