That's the correct attitude to have Shawn. I bought my 90' Nissan in an insurance auction hit pretty good in the front with a bent frame. Had the frame pulled, put on a Silvia front end, swapped in an SR20, and she was good to go. The FD my buddy bought in a similiar auction hit infront and we've been fixing it up bit by bit the last 3 months with me buying it from him. Don't be scared of the damage your FD took. Rebuild her, and make her good as new.

Rexset man, that is some SERIOUS damage. Your brother is VERY LUCKY to be alive. I can understand how you felt after putting all that time and work into it. But let's look at the positive here - you learned a lot of the processes and new found knowledge when you did put that FD together. You can reuse that knowledge to create, maintain, or restore another. You just have to keep your head up about it and keep reconstructing, rebuilding (not necessarily that car), and continuing.

Good to see your getting her back on the road. Ignore all the haters, you made a mistake, you admitted it, you are fixing it. I hate some of the comments people make here, like they are god looking down at you and smiting you, jesus christ, shut the hell up! Its his car, its his money. You say hes not showing remorse? Whats he going to do come on the forums and tell us how he cried and post pics of the tears streaming down? You think hes not upset he messed up his car? Did you not read the first post? And please, the comments about how upset it makes you that this happened to an FD, its not your FD so theres no need to be sad especially because you didnt even know it existed before this thread. I almost wait for the day one of these flamers wrecks there car so then everyone else can jump on them like "OMFG YOU IRRESPONSIBLE PIECE OF ****, THAT POOR CAR!, good to see your alright thats all that really matters......OMFG RARE COLOR COMBO AND MILEAGE I WONT BE ABLE TO SLEEP TONIGHT". What a bunch of whiners, get over it, its not your car. If you dont have something nice to say, GO TO THE LOUNGE.

Thanks men you really get the point , in fact I have another one, that I had been building it the last 5 years, the problem was that that it was my everyday car so...

And i feel so frutrated cause when I get the notice I was in another country doing a bussiness travel. So I spend 5 day been and feeling so bad about the subject cause was not in my house to help make the situacion better, cause even if somebody don't belive it , it was a guy in the codriver seat., that spend 20 days in special cares and 1 year to recover.

The reason that I put the picture of my car it is cause meaby it could be helpfull to another person like an experience. Try to not give the keys of your car to a 19 years guy ,or another even if he had experience. This car is no joke , you need big skills and experience to know how push it to the limit with out crash it, more if you drive it on the street , and it had a single turbo configuration , like this one.

I both it in a junk gard , it was recover from a rovery , it was without engine and ECU , so I rebuild a engine , then the gearbox , then I install a single turbo.
It was with out interiors and with a bad paint and no seats , so I get all of that and I paint it. I change the suspencion of the car , i install on it Eibach springs with koni shock absorbers, and I change the drive shaft the rear differencial and the rear axel , I change all the bushing of the rear suspencion and the front one.
It was with bad wheels so I get a almost unused 4 original wheels.
All of that I doing it by miself with my hands in my extratime at the weekends and I spend almoust all my money here in Chile south america that they are 5 FD3s in all the country , so I import all the parts from USA. It was a big pain in the *** rebuild my car here that there is nothing.

So you can known how frustrated I was 8 moths ago, But you are rigth now I have the experience and I really know how to build a FD3s from scrach so I'm doing it again but with my all tuned one that I have been building it for the last 5 years.

Basicaly the point is that I post this in a way to give to the guy hope , that his crash was no that bad , and make him feel better about it. Never is bad to help someone and make him feel beter even if you don't know him . Obiusly there guys who don't understand this.

Sorry for my bad writing english but english is not my first lenguage , and I feel that i have to post my expereince to help the guys that have the same passion for the FD3s that I have.

OK, so your 20 yrs. old, you made a mistake. You have shown a little character and now you'll have more character from the regret and lessons learned. If it were me, I 'd get away from this car and pay what you owe. Then I would buy a new FD (if you loves these cars as much as we all do). Start fresh and put this behind you. It may cost more this way, but it will probably make you happy.

Why get away from a car that's easily fixed? I don't understand this mindset. It's a quitter's mindset. I say, if you can fix the FD, do it, with the determination to make it even better, and not repeat the same mistake.

That's the American ideal. And that's what I'm hoping Shawn does.

Yeah, Ill get right on that. Thanks for looking at my profile anyways.

I'd keep the car, as it will be a constant reminder to drive safer. You built the car and put all the work into it, now you know its limits, starting over would just defeat the purpose especially since its not even that bad of damage.

yeah, i completley agree, you guys are giving him a lot of **** and this guy just lost his baby, and he's still having a good attitude, cut some slack, he was honest with what happened and has had a good attitude, some of you people make me sick.

rex, are there are any parts you're looking for or need that some of us may be able to help you with? I do have some stock stuff that I don't use anymore - exhaust, radiator, etc. that are in good condition.

It can be rebuilt. We have the technology. Better than it was before. Better, stronger, faster. More reliable. Do it.

Oh...and watch the road a bit better, next time.

I said a lot of harsh words earlier in the thread, and although I don't apologize for any of it (they were well-deserved in my opinion) It's great to see you aren't giving up. Best of luck with it man, and for heaven's sake, BE CAREFUL! lol.

I dunno - I would never have posted as flippantly in the forum right afterward. I'd probably be in the ER with a bloody forehead from headbutting the wall repeatedly in anger. I mean, that's just SUCH a STUPID driving mistake to make! Just the thought of doing that to my FD of all things makes my blood boil.
